At the shop we feed the cats that the students abandon when they move out. My two main coworkers are a pair of redneck brothers and I say that with the greatest respect. They both are dog people but saw me feeding the strays and started feeding them. The older one absolutely pampers them.
Two of the females were obviously pregnant and we waited for the kittens arrival. When I told Actiondebbie the cats were pregnant she emphatically stated " no more cats "! She is quite correct as we have nine already. Last Friday we were in the shop talking and the older brother, Mister I am not a cat guy, is looking out the window and says he thinks there is a kitten under one of the parked cars.
We go out and there are two kittens. We get them and I sent a picture to Actiondebbie. She calls back immediately " no more cats!!". At lunch I hear another under the same car. As I 'm trying to get the kitten Momma kitty comes up with another one and drops it under the car. The first one comes over to her and I'm able to grab both of them. My hand was no further than two inches from her and she didn't growl or hiss or try to scratch me. She just watched. We are convinced she brings them to us to take care of as this happened last year. That's how we got Milo and Rikki.
I take the two into the shop and put them in with their siblings. Coworkers come back and see the new ones and almost immediately start stopping the young female tenants to show them the kittens. Oohs and ahs follow and soon two are spoken four. I get home and show Actiondebbie the picture of all four. " No more cats !!!".
Next day we go to our favorite Mexican restaurant to celebrate Cinco de Mayo two days early. We don't like crowds. After her having a four glass margarita sampler and two jumbo margaritas we head home. I don't make the turn to go to our house and tell her I missed the turn. Actiondebbie knows BS when she hears it and says " you're going to see the kittens ". I laugh and say yes.
We get to the shop and she instantly falls for one of the kittens and we get to take him home. She's quite the softie after enough alcohol. Candy is dandy but liquor is quicker. Of course getting her loaded was the plan from the beginning. I've been around her a while and know what chains to yank and what gears to lube.
Anyway Ozzy is the new kitty and he's very young, maybe four weeks. I generally sleep on the floor and woke up last night with him snuggled under my chin. He climbed out of his cubby house to sleep with me.
I'll try to post a picture but haven't had much success lately doing that.
