Years from now, after I'm gone, someone will listen to what I've done and know I was here. They may not know or care who I was, but they'll hear my guitars speaking for me.

“People are afraid of themselves, of their own reality; their feelings most of all. People talk about how great love is, but that’s bullshit. Love hurts. Feelings are disturbing. People are taught that pain is evil and dangerous. How can they deal with love if they’re afraid to feel? Pain is meant to wake us up. People try to hide their pain. But they’re wrong. Pain is something to carry, like a radio. You feel your strength in the experience of pain. It’s all in how you carry it. That’s what matters. Pain is a feeling. Your feelings are a part of you. Your own reality. If you feel ashamed of them, and hide them, you’re letting society destroy your reality. You should stand up for your right to feel your pain.”

There are only four types of officer. First, there are the lazy, stupid ones. Leave them alone, they do no harm…Second, there are the hard- working, intelligent ones. They make excellent staff officers, ensuring that every detail is properly considered. Third, there are the hard- working, stupid ones. These people are a menace and must be fired at once. They create irrelevant work for everybody. Finally, there are the intelligent, lazy ones. They are suited for the highest office.

The last thing I'll say about all this is that I think (and I used to be in this camp) that when your in your 20s, 30s and even your 40s you don't think too much of your own mortality. Once you crest your mid 50s things start to change. Personally for me two years ago at the age of 57 when I had that massive widow maker heart attack and had a 13% chance of surviving that really changes your perspective and priorities in life. When one of your good friends whom has had two near death experiences and who is in his mid-to-late sixties says to you that this is his last decade in life, you understand it and look at your own mortality and realize that if your lucky you'll have 10, maybe 20, and if blessed 30 years left in this life, so you think things that used to be important no longer are important and other things you never thought about are more important. I think some folks that are younger will think this sounds like doom and gloom talking, but its really just reality setting in as you reach your golden years.

Rule one on page one of the book of war, is: Do not March on Moscow.
We have to strike promptly, otherwise everything will be compromised . . . In war, chance is half of everything. If we were always waiting for a favourable gathering of circumstances, we'd never finish anything.

May have posted before, but it is my favorite quote:

What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger
-Nietzsche
Dude, Nietzsche, by this statement alone was an idiot! Many a man have gone weaker by a words alone. Entire nations have collapsed from it.
Although it does make for a good line!
