I have some older CH classics I am looking to play. StB I and II, A:TB, DTW.

I have an old Platoon Leader (v2.5 or so I think). I see CH has v5.0 out, but it costs $70 or so.

Can anyone suggest what I might be missing using the older free version of PL?

All of those older classic PL Modules should be backwards compatible with 2.5 version, or any of the newer versions.

Thank you. I am curious, how different is the new version?

Judging by the usual CH policies, I would expect it to be no different to previous versions other than random more or less errata than the previous version, and come with unnecessary countersheets of irrelevant “extras”.

There was actually a major re-write of the PL 2.5 version. It clarified many issues in the 2.5 version and removed bits that referred to the non-ASL game it came from.

Yes, I'm the one that did the rewrite. The 2.0 version was lacking tables and entire sections of rules that previous versions had. Kurt Martin (from the old Rout Report) had updated it, but never had it published by CH. I grew tired of complaints by customers trying to navigate the PL rules from previous editions, so I rewrote the entire thing before submitting it to Ray for a free (or at least cheap) copy for his customers. He did his magic and made it a lot fancier and professional before selling it as 3.0 or something else edition. I think I still have several copies of that edition in an old inventory box in my closet.

I was selling or giving them away for free at ASLOK a few years back.

Ah very cool. So when you said v2.5 would be fine you knew what you were talking about.
