Picking up a FT with Residual firepower in the hex

Assume an flamethrower is in a woods hex all by its self
A unit move in to the hex and get fired upon leaving 4 residual.
A second unit moves it to the hex and gets attacked by the residual
it then attempts to recover the Flamethrower.
Would it be attacked again by the same residual fire
?Maybe, because it is now more vulnerable but (NRH) says you can be attacked more that once from the same Residual

I believe you have it correct. Picking up the FT makes the unit more vulnerable, so it is attacked again.

A unit can be attacked by Residual FP only once per Location [EXC: if, since that first Residual FP attack, the Residual FP has increased in strength or the unit is subject to more-negative-DRM/less-positive-DRM, it will be attacked again by that Residual FP upon further MF/MP expenditure; D5.33].
