Does anyone have a key pdf that defines the counter format of the older Critical Hit Counters (ASL Comp, not ATS). The example is a cupola from "First Wave at Omaha", but I'm looking for the counter key of all counter types (AFV, infantry, guns, etc).

31700

I purchased a large set of 2nd hand AH, CH (all ASL Comp, none are ATS), BFP, etc games. I'm trying to determine if the games are complete, but the counters were not stored with thier associated games. So, I'm looking for counter sheet pics for the games that I can't find on the Board Game Geek (BBG) or Desperation Morale (DM) sites. Texas ASL has a nice Critical Hit Armory xls, but it too is incomplete, and a counter sheet picture is more accurate. Here's a list of the game counter sheet pics I'm looking for. It's long, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sturmgruppe Beton - Assault on the Albert Canal 1940
Sturmgruppe Eisen
Battle of Gazala - Monster (DM has pics, but some sheets are covered or not clear)
Battle of El Alamein Monster (same as Battle of Gazala Monster)
Behind Utah Beach (No pics)
Brecourt Manor + Strass (No pics)
DZ Normandy (No pics)
Busting the Bocage (No pics)
Busting the Bocage BAR Edition (No pics)
Fateful Stand (some BBG pics, but incomplete)
Omaha East (No pics)
Huertgen Hell (No pics)
Hero Pax 3 (No pics)
Monte Altuzzo: Gothic Line 1944 (No pics)
King Red + Operation Deadtstick (some BBG pics, but incomplete)
Port-en-Bessin (No pics)
Those Ragged Bloody Heroes (No pics)
Easter at Tobruk (BBG, DM and Texas ASL are all different. Which is correct?)
Gettysburg: Turning Point 1863 (No pic of sheet 2 of 4)
Gettysburg: The Battle of Culp’s Hill (No pics)
Gettysburg: Pickett's Charge (No pics)
Civil War Geomorphic Map Module 1 (No pics)
GWASL I: Tankschreken! Upgrade Set (No pics)
Kaunas Offensive: Operation Bagration 1944 (No pics)
NW Europe '45 Counter Set (No pics)

I will happily share any of my findings of games I have complete counts on. Many thanks to those who contributed!

I wish you well on this search, LIBGFF.

I like the detailed Pzkw IV turret counter. I think my "Arnhem The Third Bridge" CH Ziploc bag.... Wait a minute... I meant my CH nationality sets are older since the turret counters look less detailed.

I wish you well on this. If we'll encourage CH, I think they'll turn out more of these. Love the Pzkw IV turret counter you have shared.

Hopefully someone will respond to your post soon.

My scanner is currently inop, so we'll have to go with this old scan i have even though it's partially cut off.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the hard work here. You nailed Ray Tapio's Critical Hit AFV counters. Thanks. That's a hechuva job, Kev, to slow this down and diagram Ray Tapio/Dave Lamb's ASL counters. Absolutely love this!

Thanks for your feedback gentlemen, and thank you Kev for the excellent CH counter key. I actually found something similar in CH Magazine Vol 7 No 1 after my post that I shared below. I had to reduce the size (and image quality) from 3.7 MB to .5 MG since it was initially too big for the server, so hopefully it's clear. Anyway, aspects of yours I like better.

Yeah, it'll be difficult finding the correct counter inventory for some games, but Board Game Geek (BBG) and Desperation Morale (DM) have been a huge help. Hoping someone will eventually update the sheet pictures on those sites, or offer something here . . . fingers crossed.

Again, thanks to you both, and I'd be happy to offer any game info I have . . . over 1,400 games, mags, modules, etc. Yes, 1,400, that's not a typo. Slowly finding the time to enjoy them again.

Best, Walter

Completely concur, Walter. Thank goodness though that Critical Hit's counter art, counter function, etc. is getting better each go. Ray is fighter, and he's competitive. Like somebody else had mentioned, when Avalon Hill threw G.I. Anvil of Victory together, the infantry counters went from attractive (as in gametes' Cross Of Iron and Crescendo Of Doom) to awful overnight.

It's trial and error, and I like what I see from Critical Hit. He has a good team surrounding him with quality members like Dave Lamb and Dan Windham. Their product has gotten a lot better over time.

Yes, the counter art has improved over the years. Personally, I've purchased CH products for the particular historical situations they offer, like Wake - Pacific Alamo and Maxim Gorki - The Siege of Sevastopol 1942. Would be nice if the supplemental rules were better though. They always seem to be missing so much.

So far, it looks like no one has the counter sheet pics I desire. Fingers crossed.🤞

I think it will continue to improve. Ray works tirelessly on fine-tuning his craft. Just keep looking up!

That's what attracts me to CH. This operation is very much alive. And yes, things are getting better.

Did it start out this way? I don't think so. Ray's had to overcome some hurdles.

Yes. Let's remain optimistic brother. Have a good day.

Yes LIBGFF, with Ray's CH counter design, I like the intense detail to the rating system. I have a "initial production" image for a Soviet T-34/85 that has a smaller turret that seems to be strong when hit in the front, but taking shots "sideways" -- the primitive first production M1943 T-34/85 is a liability when compared to the hoss, the beast that is any standard T-34/85.

ASL has limitless possibilities -- and Ray makes it so that vehicles are all individually examined and rated accordingly.

I'm trying -- as is right now -- to see if I can find anything in ASL that has to do with the Netherlands, the Dutch and the Jewish ghetto and Nazi raids in the summer of '43. I'm wondering if anything has been covered there. I've spotted the fighting in Warsaw Poland for several ASL scenarios. Can I find anything in the Netherlands? I hope so.

Thunderchief, or anyone that can help. I'm trying to hawk down an ASL map that can capture Amsterdam...particularly the Jewish quarter of Jodenbuurt/Waterlooplein. I did find a Lone Canuck scenario "Cracking Fortress Holland" - but its map is of "Vesting Holland" which is right next door to Amsterdam. Would love to see this more in the righty direction. Oddly enough, I'm covering a map for PanzerBlitz of Lohojsk to where I am taking matters in my own hand thanks to Mike Weaver years ago providing me with a Mapywig map of the Belarus---which is like north of Minsk.

Wished I could get some decent traction with locating Amsterdam though.

Thanks Thunderchief. I'm familiar with ASL Scenario Archive, but I'll post my request there as well.

Thanks Thunderchief. I saw the 18 photos that came up with your search. David Meyler had sent me an excellent photo, different angle. These you shared however are even better.

I'll have to buy one to use.

Again, thanks.
