LOS Off Board Edge?

The Japanese stack wants to enter A7 in woods bypass on the north side. The A7/A8 hex vertice on the board is out of LOS to the Brits in B10. The A7/A8 vertice off the board is in LOS to B10. Can the Japanese enter unseen, or does the offboard LOS allow them to be seen (and fired upon)?

A2.51 says that you place an unused map to the right, where the Japanese set up offboard. There is no LOS from the board to the setup board, the A7-A8-offboard hex vertex is on the 'setup board', so no LOS. If the British unit has LOS to the center dot of A7, it could fire on the Japanese units as they bypass A7-A8 (A4.34).
