The current plan for shooting off Ceradoc's fireworks collection is as follows:

Server: Landroval

Place: The middle of the bridge over The Water at Hobbiton in the Shire (near the old mill).

Date: Thursday February 25

Time: 8:30 PM EST or as soon thereafter as it gets properly dark. (I don't want to shoot off fireworks under lighting conditions of dusk, gloaming, or foredawn, so if it looks like any of those will apply, I'll simply reschedule for the next Shire-evening that will happen Thursday night. This could conceivably involve a delay of several hours -- if anybody remembers how to calculate from game-time to real time, please post it here (I still remember sitting in a cornfield for a couple of hours when the game first started because I hadn't figured out how to tell time by anything other than looking at the position of the sun in the sky). LOOK FOR AN ANNOUNCEMENT (several, actually) OVER THE REGIONAL CHANNEL BY CERADOC ABOUT FIFTEEN MINUTES OR SO BEFORE IGNITION.

Best Viewing: The North or South bank of The Water, by the Bridge in Hobbiton.

(I had considered shooting the fireworks off from the fishing landing at the pond in Bywater , but wasn't sure that there were good viewing locations close enough to see anything).

ALL ARE WELCOME (especially if they bring hot dogs and marshmallows)

This won't be a Grucci display, but I've got about a dozen fireworks that have been sitting in my vault for a year, and it's time to shoot them off before they go inert.

Yes, sorry I didn't mention it earlier. And I've edited the original text to include that.

Want to make the biggest splash- set them off in the Bree AH on a Saturday afternoon!
That's not exactly what I would want to set off in the Bree Auction House. Good thing I never know in advance if I'll be around on Saturdays.

The announcement has been made by public outcry over the regional channel in several different areas (Breeland, North Downs, the Shire, Ered Luin), and several people said they would attend, and at least one other will bring their own fireworks as well. So spread the word in parts of middle earth that I don't have any ...uh ... acquaintances... in at the moment (Eregion, Moria, Lothlorien, Mirkwood). I suspect older players will get a bigger kick out of this than new ones, and that's where you'll probably find them.

[And I can't believe how incredibly empty Ered Luin is. Kind of nice, actually.]

Somehow I picture a Turbine developer spotting this thread and putting in code that allows the AH to burn down by tonight.

Would be quite the sight.

Did I miss the show?
My son decided to upgrade my PC tonight with a new processor to handle the new Video card & my grandbaby was dropped off for us to watch: that pretty much eliminated any PC time.

Sorry you couldn't make it.

We got lucky and two other people who had heard my in-game announcements brought their own fireworks as well.

I also noticed that many fireworks can be stacked, so I may restock my supply at the next festival.

Lessons learned: Do it between festivals, and make plenty of in-game announcements in different regions a few hours before an event. Having lots of different characters makes this last part a lot easier. And avoid obscure locations like the Methel stage. And I purposely never used the phrase 'Bywater Bridge' because it sounds too much like a place in Bywater (it's the bridge in Hobbiton).

Oddball public events are fun. We'll have to do more of them.

I had a sackful of fireworks for weeks and eventually sold them at a loss realizing I would never have a 'special occasion' to use them up at. Now I regret it!

I have fireworks on a different server, along with a bunch of Mithril flakes that hang out on Arkenstone or Brandywine or some other place I rarely visit.

I always wondered whether there are people in the opposite situation and there could be cross-server trade.
