In Q25 Encounter at Le Valtru, we have the special rule that the side moving first may expend only half of their allotted Infantry/ vehicular MF/MP during the Turn 1 MPh.
Does that mean that Double Time is also halved? Only 1 extra MF?

It could well be possible that the intention is for CX not to be allowed at all.

At least for Vehicles, I have played "half" MP allotment always as a "hard" limit, i.e. with no ESB possible.

The regular MF allotment for Infantry is 4MF for MMC and 6MF per SMC, so maybe it is merely 2MF/3MF for Infantry.

"A4.11 MOVEMENT FACTOR (MF): Every Good Order MMC has a four MF allotment [EXC: three if Inexperienced] and every Good Order SMC has a six MF allotment with which to move in its MPh [EXC: The MF allotment of a SMC is reduced to four MF if it mounts, rides, or dismounts any form of conveyance during that Player Turn. Wounded SMC (17.2) and Inexperienced Infantry have their MF allotment increased to four MF if they mount, ride, or dismount any conveyance during that Player Turn]."

"...may Double Time by its owner announcing the option at the start of its MPh and placing a CX (4.51) counter on the unit. Double Time increases the MF allotment of Infantry by two."

>It could well be possible that the intention is for CX not to be allowed at all.
One would think they would say that...

In the same vein, I wouldn't think that I don't qualify for Road Bonus given this kind of SSR.

Without any further rules, I'd say they've used 2 and they can double time normally. The interesting question is what about units with a leader? Have they used 2?

The Leaders' MF allotment would be halved to 3MF. So even with a Leader, accompanying Infantry could not move more than 3MF (if at all), I suppose.

Maybe if the scenario designer is around in this forum, the question about how the SSR is to be interpreted could be directed at him.

I misread it as saying that they had already used half. My mistake.

Infantry declaring double time at start of their MPh have 4+2 = 6 MF halved = 3; if with a leader 6+2 = 8 MF halved = 4

Not that it is very likely, but how would road bonus be applied?

Squad with leader starts in C5. Has 3 MF, so moves along the road to F6.
Could it then road bonus to G7?

Thanks,
Mike

If they spent all of their movement crossing only road hexsides, sure.

As per B3.4 Road Bonus is entitled to one additional MF.

In this incident 1/2 MF as per B3.4.

B3.4 Infantry may cross any road hexside at a cost of one MF (two MF if move is to higher elevation). Infantry, Cavalry, and Horse-Drawn units which cross only road hexsides throughout their MPh are entitled to one extra MF provided they do not encounter mines, burning wrecks, Wire, mud, rubble, roadblocks, debris (O1.2), Panji Covered hexsides, SMOKE, or Deep Snow in those road hexes and are not pushing Guns (C10.3).

Disagree that they're only entitled to an extra 1/2 MF.

Thanks, George. Rereading 3.4, it is clear you gain 1 MF, but I have been remembering it as "gaining one extra hex". Means essentially the same thing most of the time, but means something slightly different with this SSR.

I did enjoy playing the scenario.
