Boards in Journals?

Do you think MMP should include an original ASLSK-style board in Journal issues?

Guys,

Now that we are committed to the ASLSK-style maps, we're considering adding a board to journals. Some of the scenarios in the journal would be played with it.

These would not be reissues of old boards, but original art designs. The added would be $5. Yea or Nay?

Voted no on the simple bases that I totally dislike the new board style. Sorry...

Yep... and if you have the Journal on endless subscription from MMP (20% discount) that'll reduce the additional cost due to the mapboard down to just $4.00.

So I take it that my copy of J6 will have a new ASLSK board? If I don't find one in there, I can complain to Youse and tell him that Keith told me one would be included right? ;)

Excellent idea, provided they are also available separately once the Journal is sold out.
Maybe just cross that bridge when it's reached... of all the Journals printed so far, only J2 is sold out.

But assuming it was, say board #52 (continuing the numbering scheme), then I'd also assume it would eventually be stocked as an independent board... much the same as the Action Pack #1 and #2 boards were/are also stocked as independent boards.

Good Idea: Boards in Journals

Better idea: Get AoO and J6 released sooner rather than later.

To quote Shakespeare from "Richard III"

"Now is the winter of our discontent."

Well the board in Journal idea won't be starting with J6 (which already has a HASL map slated for inclusion), so I'm guessing MMP are just canvassing our opinions as they plan for J7. Last time I heard, J6 was just awaiting playtesting results for a couple of remaining scenarios before it was ready to hit the press.

Hi-

Intresting idea, HoB did the samething with their newsest RBF2 zine, a very nice map too. Anyway, will this map be instock when the journal goes out of print? Will the first 52 maps be printed up before hand? Will J6 have an umounted map and be out before years end?

Personnally, I would like to see corrected counters put into the journal instead of new maps for now.

A real ASL addict is always hungry for new terrain! :smoke:
I have no problem with the new board "ASLSK" style : use plexiglass to cover them (and they fold with the pretty side inwards, which will preserve them much better than the thick ones)...

hello keith,

voted yes also...and agree with that :

"provided they are also available separately once the Journal is sold out"

the new boards(aslsk style) are surely the best way to handle the commercial aspect of asl : much cheaper to ship by airmail across the atlantic for us european...and no need to make personnal copies of mounted boards to constitute a "travel set"...tourneys and even from home to the "club" or to one's buddy's home..

Voted "NO", simply because it is not the time for it.

When all the old boards are available in the new style, and the production bottleneck is fixed, then ask this.

"New" new boards are the last thing we need right now.

Hockey Puckee

Yes the "Hockey Puckee" board will be especially good. Distributed freely on all Rangers vs Red Wings games and contains not only a new "columbian board" but also four new HS-counters for each team. The board itself will be really great depicting 3 lines in red and blue and white background to represent the EC on attached scenario. Lidstrom will certainly receive his own 9-1 marker ;-)
