Bitter Ender 2027 – April 21–25, 2027
The North Carolina Advanced Squad Leader Association is proud to invite you to Bitter Ender 2027, and this year's event is shaping up to be something truly special.

For Bitter Ender 2027, NCASLA has partnered with renowned scenario designers Gary Fortenberry and Jim Bishop to create a unique Grognard Main Event experience. Gary and Jim have developed an entirely new set of scenarios and mapboards that will make their debut at Bitter Ender. Every round of the Main Event will feature a brand-new scenario—giving every player the opportunity to experience these designs for the very first time.
These scenarios are being developed to final submission standards and will be fully playtested before the tournament. Our hope is to see them eventually published as an official MMP Action Pack, making Bitter Ender attendees among the first players anywhere to experience this exciting new material.
The action doesn't stop with the Main Event. Bitter Ender 2027 will also feature:

• Open Gaming on Wednesday
• A commemorative Bitter Ender whisky glass ($15) available for purchase.
• Our Saturday Pizza Social!
• The competitive, friendly atmosphere that has made Bitter Ender one of the premier ASL events in the country!

Registration is now open. Visit the NCASLA website and click the Tournament link in the upper-right corner to reserve your spot.

We look forward to seeing old friends, welcoming new players, and sharing another great week of ASL in North Carolina. We hope you'll join us for what promises to be a memorable Bitter Ender.

See you in April!

We plan to have 12 scenarios and 4 new map boards. Don't hold us accountable for that number just yet but that's what we are aiming for. We hope to see you all there. This means you @Paul NJ, @bendizoid, @STAVKA. If you come Melvin, bring Svante with you. He would be my dark horse pick to win it all.

Jim are you designing your first ever Deluxe scenario for this pack?

Jim, are you going to release this at Bitter Ender and then release another 10-12 scenarios with new maps at Human Wave in May 2027?

I believe I read somewhere that they decided to do the Bitter Ender event instead of the Human Wave event.

I wish to know if the Grognard event is limited to 32 players. I also wish to know what happens after a player takes a loss in the Grognard. Can the player continue in the Grognard event against other players with the same win-loss record?

@Fort and I will run the Grognard. @waltermcwilliam (and others) will be running mini's and other events as well. The scenarios in the Grognard will be available to play outside the main if people want. The Grognard can go as high as 64. Last year, 55 people attended Bitter Ender. If we get a few new people, 64 is not an inconceivable number. If we get less than 64, we may run a play in round to get into the Grognard. For example, if 48 sign up, we may place the top 16. The other 32 will play a one round "play-in" with the winners completing the 32 members for the Grognard.

We are planning for 64 at this time.

For your information; I phoned the hotel directly to book my room from April 20 arrival to 25 departure. The agent could not find the Bitter Ender event for a special rate. They gave a rate of $99 per night. The NC ASL Association web page doesn't state their block rate, so I have no idea if that is better or worse.

@waltermcwilliam is handling all of the hotel issues. Gary and I are just running the tournament.

Ah! The easy part.😉

Venues. Imo still the most difficult part of hosting a ftf event. Especially when you start drawing sixty plus people. All sorts of issues.

Best of luck to you all. I know you guys will do a great job.

Thanks to TDs and event organizers everywhere. Well done all.
