I noticed a rule saying that Kachin units could not use 5/8" counter weapons. FYI, you may want to re-think this, as the Kachins used 81mm mortars and 4.2" chemical mortars.
This may be true, but my primary reference (US Army History) says otherwise. Reference: Romanus & Sunderland, "Time Runs Out in CBI", US Army in World War II, Center of Military History, US Army, Washington, DC.
In any case, I make no apology as I did the best I could with the information available to me at the time of writing. And that is all anybody can do... their best at the time with what they have.

And there ya have it, Pitman will go out and buy unit histories for hundreds of $$ but then complains about how exspensive an ASL product is. Go figure lol.

There is room for discussion / debate about sources. Mr. Pittman's comments about cost are really a separate issue.

Yes, this is an expensive pack of scenarios. Any way you cut it.

but yes, there's a heck of alot in there. Maps, counters, lots and lots of scenarios.

But no need to ding a guy because he has a different opinion about an historical source.

Real cost is "what you pay / what you get". I´m sure this product is not expensive when compared to a lot of other ones aparently cheaper.

I´ve preordered and only waiting to pay and receive it.

There is a world of difference between knowing the cost of something and the value of it. Mark has made that clear enough.

This is expensive, and if it were not for the fact that I have found 'Into the Rubble' and the 'Beyond the Beach Head/Cobra' combo (I consider those latter two to be one product) to be top rate ASL products, I would probably not have stumped up seventy-odd nicker.

And Whizbang... you're an arse.

you're forgiven for not understanding American English..this time....
No. I read it... and posted in defiance because I thought it amusing. You're forgiven for not seeing the funny side of things.

(BTW other Americans gave me rep - well one gave me rep).

If you only play 4 scenarios out of it, at 5 hours of play time per scenario, you're still doing better when looking at $/hour than a two hour movie for two players.

$125 / 20 hrs / 2 people = $3.13 per person per hour.
$16 / 2 hrs / 2 people = $4.00 per person per hour.

That's my justification, and I'm sticking to it... (until the wife decides to audit my game purchases... :OHNO: )

Oh, and don't forget reading/perusing/admiring/putzing time. Count every entertainment hour! (Can you tell this is my preferred method of spending rationalization?)

Screw justification. I haven't had a real job in a year and a 1/2 and I can come with $100 to spend on this. This hobby is NOT expensive at all. Try fishing (owning a boat), golf, Owning a classic vehicle, Going to pro sports events, gambling oh and lets not forget the most expensive hobby of all WOMEN.

In support of OfficeFest, I received copies of Blood & Jungle early. There hasn't been a day that I haven't pulled out the materials just to look at them. A 60 page magazine, several rule pages, 4 countersheets, 3 maps and 47 scenarios, all in color. I have not felt that I overpaid for this product. It's an excellent, high quality product, with hours of PTO fun inside.

But all was well the corner of the mag. got a little crushed on a corner but everything else was good. The No APCR, No AP ect... were a nice extra treat.

Hi!

A message to those who are real concerned about the price, do not buy it:laugh:.

At first I was put off a little (not a ton but a little) by the price. Then I started to think what you get. Three maps, a bunch (4 sheets) of counters, a magazine, and 20-25 cardstock, full color, scenario cards plus Chapter H and other Rules (full color) pages.

Take a look at your "average" scenario pack....... 6-8 cardstock cards (often not in full-color) and that is it for your $25.

If you broke (more or less) this pack down into parts you would have:

3 scenario packs
1 60 page full- color magazine
3 mapboards.
4 sheets of counters

How much would we pay for that on an individual basis?

Lets take a look at some products (just picked at random)......

AP4-$30
SP Issue-$25
Dezign Packs-$25
Friendly Fire-$20-$25
Long Match $37
Kreta-$73
Guerre Civil-$49.95
LFT Issue ($40-$45)

It may be a lot of money at one throw but when you take the whole product into consideration, it is not out of line (and may be a slight bargain) at the $125 (including shipping).

Just my two pennies.

Peace

Roger
