@daveramsey

I believe I've tagged the owner of the archive. Can we please keep the naming conventions standard throughout the site down to specific products? Some names have spaces in between the scenario names, some don't. Journal 15 scenarios are put in as "ASL J250" instead of the standard previously used naming convention of "J250." Please and thank you.

ASL Sceario Archive is down at 18:40h Berlin time.

I begin to have a hunch what might play a role in the Archive going down:

I believe it has been three times in a row (on different occasions) shortly after I was uploading "user files" (i.e. an image, map-image, VASL file) to the Archive, that the site went down, which I recognized shortly thereafter when attempting to upload another user file.

If my impression is correct, than this might indicate that the side going down after upload (-attempts) is more than mere happenstance.
Maybe worth a check?

There seems to be something to it:
Site was back up. I tried to upload a VASL-setup file: After clicking the upload button: "Timeout - site not reachable"

Tried this time at 22:00h Berlin time.

My brain finally clicked on something. When I was adding maps, I hit a size limit that briefly shut me off from the site as a possible file upload attack. Dave told me to scale them down to reduce the size and they worked.

Any chance what you are uploading is bigger than normal? If not, are you able to attach it or a link to it and I can try from the US?
This sounds like it could be it!

Do you happen to know what the size limit is?

VASL setup files usually have less than 100KB, so that should not be an issue, I suppose.
The map pictures I upload I set to a size of 500KB maximum.

In case of J202, the Map image had 478KB, the VASL file had 75KB, and the scenario picture (from the scenario card) had 31KB.
Does not sound massive in size to me. Tonight, I could not access the site after uploading the 31KB pic and the 478K map image.
After approximately 2 hours, access was possible again tonight.

It all seems somewhat strange. Maybe there is to relation to upload attempts, because looking at the file sizes, I wonder why I did not get kicked after the 75KB upload after I had trouble after the 31KB upload. Maybe, because the 75KB file was a .vasl file and the others were .jpg's? But I am pretty sure that I had trouble uploading .vasl files as well in the past.

So, I cannot quite piece the behavior together.

I tested a few things, including a .jpg image file that was 531KB in size. It uploaded without issue, so I have no idea why the site doesn't like your uploads.

If you want to attach them here, I am happy to try to upload them myself to see if it's a location-based issue (if it works for me) or a specific file issue (if they also fail for me).
Well, maybe my impression was just wrong and the downtimes were not conntected to my uploads.

Besides, thank you for your offer. I think I can manage. It might just take a couple of attempts until it is done. And it is not possible to upload .vasl files into this forum anyway.

Hey chaps - max file size on the archive is currently 2mb per file. It's more to keep the pages snappy when viewing their contents rather than long upload times, etc.

A big file shouldn't be taking the site down (and I don't believe it has done, this may be bad timing) - it does need a reboot every few months just to keep things fresh and updates installed, etc.

If anyone's still having problems, please get in touch.

Cheers!
