Correct.

Similar question came up at one of our local game days earlier this year. Led to some short-lived confusion when pulling counters for a Rally Point scenario.

The owner couldn't recall where the German MG in his kit had come from. Nor could I. But having playing Romanian Hammers before, I was confident that these German MMG counters didn't exist when the scenario was published in 2006.

Like the three matching PSK also included in TotR, they're a welcome addition to the countermix.

Interestingly, none of these SW have "(g)" in their names.

We came to the conclusion that as the Nazi State Apparatus was rapaciously intent on milking every last bit of revenue out of the arms sales, the Romanians obviously had either "borrowed" a fair few or had decided that paying a licence for production was a bit on the nose, so just went ahead and manuafctured their own versions, probably with enough cosmetic changes that the look and feel (but not the purpose or performance) was enough to bypass potential litigation.

The Romanians would have had some German MG on AFV they purchased, but a fair number were also captured during the battles around Bucharest when Romania switched sides.

Apparently Bulgarian paratroopers had PSK, as did the Croats and Slovaks, while the Hungarians did make a homegrown version.
