The dates for the eighth and possibly final Gettysburg ASL tournament in memory of the late John Dober have been moved up to June 19th through June 22nd. John's widow, Christina, is selling the property this spring and moving closer to family. However, she wanted to have this get together one more time in John's memory.
Once again, it will be held at Christina's home in Gettysburg and, again there will be limited space at the house for guests as well as the 1863 hotel right next door. If staying at the hotel, Christina can get reduced rates as low as $50.00 per night.
The tournament will again feature five rounds (scenario list will be posted here by mid-May) of five choices each round. Choose any opponent for first round. Following round matchups will be determined by record. Scoring will be based on a point system with three tiebreakers. Plaques awarded to first thru third places, sportsman, sniper ace, and bad mechanic. Ken Mioduski will be supplying, as in the previous 7 years, the tournament souvenir drink glasses. There will be plenty of "kit" for play for those who wish to travel light.
Round one will start on Thursday afternoon/evening, with 2 rounds Friday, and the final 2 rounds on Saturday. This will leave Sunday open for travel. However, there will be plenty of gunning for anyone arriving Friday or Saturday.
There will again be a standard $25.00 entry fee for tournament participants. No fee for just coming to gun out of tournament Friday and Saturday.
Christina is also liquidating John's collection. For those not aware, John has a massive board game, as well as ASL, collection. Also, a large book and model and sports collection. Whether playing in tourney or not stop by and peruse. If you see anything you like, see me or Christina and make an offer. Everything must go and Chris would rather it be to John's friends than public auction.
I have had the pleasure of attending all of the Hallowed Ground events and directing the past three. Chris is truly the "hostess with the mostest" and these weekends prove to be fun and competitive, and this may very well be the last. So, make plans now (sorry for the late notice on date changing) and we hope to see you there. Any questions about tourney, room reservations, the meaning of life (just kidding), feel free to reach out to me on gamesquad, by message. Or Facebook messenger.
