I am planning to get in some desert action with Matt, but time depending, happy to shoot for another Wednesday, although there are usually several guys there by then.

Luvs me some DTO. Fort McGregor was one of our favorites. Good stuff!

First, a zillion thanks for Rick Reinesch. Great host and thanks for organizing all this each year!

I played Ferocity Fest this year. A day-long slugfest with ITR15 Tractor Factory 137. You gain points for "playing" (i.e., style points). I won overall as the axis. Here my Germans are on the end trying to get the last three factories. On the last turn, last hex, last building...ambush...by the [Brian Roundhill] Russians! He infiltrated and maintain control of the building so I lost. =( But I won overall on style points with 10-15 HtH CC wins (so many I don't recall). HtH was allowed to make the scenario more intense. My prize was a glass with a bullet in it! The allies winner (I don't recall who) also got a glass.

John the "Grafaz" vs Michael the "Moderator". This went into Sunday so I don't know who won.


Before I left on Sunday Rick and I played Q8 New and Untested. The Germans come in from the right with a small Russian contingent to slow things down (but two Russian MMGs can really slow things down!) My Germans managed to get by and they had to control the bridge. But Russian reinforcements had time to position themselves in three locations on the other side (far right). I kept failing to do any pre-damage so on the last turn I had run the gauntlet. In the middle of the street my MMG finally DM'd the center Russians. Then one squad ran across the bridge frightening the Russians...they panic'd, they FF'd, SFF'd, FPF'd...they laid residual...and they broke--so the Germans had the bridge after only one squad who put the living fear into the Russians! Ha! =)


One other game. John got me with earlier with Desert Citadel (see other post) with his Italians but I came back on Friday. Playing J256 Mortal Wounding, I had the defending Germans with a Sturmtiger 380mm against John's attacking Americans. The game started with an SSR-given first lob from a well-positioned Sturmtiger. With a hit and 36 -3 DRM his 9-2 stack went splatter. Later, another splatter against more Americans. Then a concealed HS with a PF took out one of two tanks. I had John "Grofaz" on the ropes...ha! It was a hilarious game but the Germans won. Yea! I still think John has me 3:2 over the years, tho.

Well the 32nd Edition of the Texas Team Tournament is in the books. It was great seeing everyone again and I think everyone had a good time. Here's how it all shook out in the end.

Showed young coworker pics of the venue and prizes. He was quite impressed. Pointed out to him that the players were mainly old guys. He is a big time video gamer and his enthusiasm and energy reminds me of the early days of SL/ASL. Good times.

The attendees still have the enthusiasm of those days but the energy has perhaps waned a bit. I know mine has.

Played HC1 First Matanikau on the historical map. As a percentage of the forces involved, this had the most casualties that I have seen in quite awhile.

I had four wins and two defeats to help my team win the team award at the Texas Team Tournament. My last win was against Grofaz champ John Garlic.
