Dorsosh vs Elvis The never ending story

I can't recall which book I read discussing German tank deployment (dim memory is whispering Death of the Leaping Horseman) that mentioned that the unit considered the minimum mandatory deployment to be a pair of tanks (the smallest size for a zug). I've taken to thinking of it as Leader/Wingman...

    I'm moving to Saskatoon

I've accepted a position in Saskatoon and will be moving the first week of November 2010. Anyone know Saskatoon gamers, especially ASL players? Gerry Proudfoot is the only one I remember being out that way. I'll start quizzing the BGG Saskatoon folks, too. Brent Pollock

    Valor of the Guards Q&A

I don't see how, since that is the way we've been playing it from the start. It certainly gets rid of the nonsense of owning the landing but not being allowed out on the pier, which is not sensible.

    Valor of the Guards Q&A

    I would count a pier as a "non-Water-Obstacle map-edge hex".

    Valor of the Guards Q&A

Re: Question regarding Russian Night Counterattacks: RE: SMOKE/FFE negating Ferry Landing Interdiction That’s how we played it – as written. Just seemed odd that something as temporary as Ordnance/FFE SMOKE (or even CX, come to think of it) could effect something that feels longer term, but...

VotG1 & CGs - Ferry Landing Interdiction and Smoke/FFE Hindrance

I've just sent the following message off to Tom Morin. I'll post the reply to the Q&A sticky once I have received it. --------- Tom, I’ve tried searching/perusing the Gamesquad site for an answer with no luck, so I’m going straight to you. We’re nearing the end of our First Bid playing, and...

Anecdotal support for effectiveness of 'track' armour on Shermans

While doing my watchkeeping shift today at the local Military Museum, I read this article: http://www.journal.forces.gc.ca/vol10/no1/09-mantle%20zaporzan-eng.asp ...which has anecdotal evidence that the track pieces welded onto Shermans did work to prevent penetrations...albeit as a temporary...

    Valor of the Guards Q&A

Careful - Voluntary Abandonment is NA from Mobile AFVs in VotG CGs (CG16) (just a warning for anyone that didn't notice your's was Immobilized).

    Valor of the Guards Q&A

Thought I'd copy/paste this from my post in the 'Russian Assault Boats in VotG' thread: Oops - good thing I found this before the boats hit the map. I also interpreted the wording as optional, not mandatory restriction to the ferry landings. I realised last night that the new fleet of...

    Valor of the Guards Q&A

Brent, No, only E5. applies, no chapter G rules. I do recall the 'til death do us part' portion of the contract, might have to fake my death...... Regards, Tom (actually don't mind the questions at all) ---------- Subject: Does G13.46 apply to VotG assault boats? Tom, Here’s another one...

    Valor of the Guards Q&A

To add to the previous response, a DC may only set up Set via the FPP expenditure because there is no other SSR (see A23.7) that allows it to set up Set. Also, any non-Reserve DC eligible to set up On Map qualifies, even captured ones. So, if you spend the extra CPP to set up a new RG On Map...

    Valor of the Guards Q&A

Here's a very quick A to a Q I sent to Tom: [EDIT - and a link to a relevant thread I just found while looking for something else: http://forums.gamesquad.com/showthread.php?t=78054&highlight=VotG] ----------- Brent, That is the correct interpretation. Regards, Tom ----- Original...

    Valor of the Guards Q&A

I was the Russians in the small CG, and it was the first night date. Plenty of flanking possibilities for both sides given the L-shaped starting lines.

    Valor of the Guards Q&A

The Train Station is a prime barrage target. I found Recon useful for probing for HIPPIES/DUMMIES before launching guys on a turn 1 Double Time flanking move.

    Valor of the Guards Q&A

Re: Valor of the Guards Q&A - VofG Offboard observer As a follow-up to this question, when does this OBO's hex get recorded: as part of Russian set up before turn one or on the Turn 12 RPh? And, just to clarify, being on Level 3 of the East Edge functions the same as being on Level 2 of the...

It's also a good way to make sure both of you understand the HIP rules. It can't prevent errors for that game, obviously, but solves problems for upcoming ones.

    Valor of the Guards Q&A

You do know that HIP mines only get placed on board if they're inside the enemy set up area, yes?
