The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass

Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks Set for December Release

It was among the most heinous incidents in video game history: In 1986, Princess Zelda was kidnapped from the land of Hyrule, setting off an intrepid rescue adventure for young hero Link. Unfortunately for Zelda, this offense has been repeated more than a dozen times since, leaving her largely out of sight while Link traversed dark dungeons and confronted monstrous enemies alone in order to save her.

This time, in the new Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi adventure The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, that all changes.

The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass

It is difficult to take full advantage of new hardware. When something as unique as the Nintendo DS launches, developers must stagger in imaginative pleasure and sheer terror. What is fully possible? How do we make this work? Indeed, even Nintendo could not provide an answer to these questions early on. But with Phantom Hourglass, Nintendo provides its definitive statement on the capabilities of the Nintendo DS…or at least tries its best to do so.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

Retro Studios has the honor of forever being recognized as the developer that brought what is arguably Nintendo’s most beloved franchise to life in polygonal form. Moreover, they captured everything that made Metroid great and more. They even managed to create a new genre in the process: the first-person adventure. Having overcome the naysayers that doubted their ability to pull off this feat, Retro was left with creating sequels that would live up to the original. The first sequel, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, felt like more of the same as one might expect; it did little to improve upon or refine the formula established in the original. With Corruption, Retro gets the chance to close out the series with a bang, and they did.
