Dante’s Inferno Demo Slated for December

Visceral Games today announced a demo for Dante’s Inferno. Coming this December, the ‘Gates of Hell’ demo includes the entire opening level and gives gamers a taste of Visceral Games’ blockbuster adaptation of Dante Alighieri’s epic poem, The Divine Comedy.

New Survival Mode for Star Trek D-A-C

Paramount Digital Entertainment, Bad Robot Interactive, CBS and Naked Sky Entertainment revealed more details today for the all-new Survival Mode for Star Trek: D-A-C and the updates to existing Conquest Mode and Assault Mode. Star Trek: D-A-C is coming to PlayStationNetwork and PCs via Valve’s Steam distribution service on November 12. All new content will also be available for Xbox LIVE Arcade for Microsoft’s Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system. Star Trek: D-A-C is a fast-paced, top-down arcade space shooter inspired by the blockbuster motion picture, “Star Trek,” which will be available on Blu-ray and DVD on November 17.

Dragon Age: Origins Combat Developer Diary

BioWare has released a new developer diary that describes how the game's combat system was designed.  Pay special attention to the 'final thoughts' segement where DA:O is described as BioWare's game for their "grown up"  audience - interesting choice of words.  Overall, the vid makes for some interesting viewing! 

 

EA CEO Bullish on PC Gaming

Yesterday, EA CEO John Riccitiello sat down with Fox Business and had some very interesting comments concerning PC gaming.  According to Edge Online, he stated:

"I think there are probably more people enjoying games on mobile devices than all the consoles put together, but there are also more consumers enjoying games on PCs than all the consoles together, so there’s really a bigger market out there,” he said.

That's a nice perspective on PC gaming, for a change.

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising Skirmish DLC and Patch Now Available

Codemasters today announced that the first Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising downloadable content – the ‘Skirmish’ pack – is available for PC, bundled with a title update patch.

Title Updates for the console editions of the acclaimed tactical shooter will arrive prior to the launch of the ‘Skirmish’ DLC pack on Xbox LIVE Marketplace and PlayStation Network. The Title Update for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft edition of the game will be available November 5th, with the Title Update for the PlayStation3 computer entertainment system edition to follow shortly.

The ‘Skirmish’ video, available from www.flashpointgame.com, demonstrates the breadth of exhilarating new content. Players are shown going head to head in attack helicopters, deploying tanks and APCs and engaging in ranged and close quarters combat in the wide ranging new maps and missions featured in the downloadable content.

Mass Effect 2 Collectors’ Edition Announced

Recruit your crew and fight for the lost! BioWare today announced that the Shooter RPG Mass Effect 2 will also be released as a Collectors’ Edition in limited quantities. Available on January 26 in North America (Jan 29 in EU) alongside the standard edition, the Collectors’ Edition of Mass Effect 2 comes in a premium, tin case and includes the full version of the game, a 48-page hardcover “Art of Mass Effect 2” book, Issue 1 of the Mass Effect Redemption comic book, and a bonus DVD with behind-the-scenes and making-of videos. In addition, the Mass Effect 2 Collectors’ Edition will include unique in-game weapons and armor that can only be obtained by purchasing this version.

Ubisoft Announces Splinter Cell Conviction Collector’s Edition

Today Ubisoft announced that it will release a Collector's Edition for the upcoming release of Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Conviction. This exclusive edition of the game will be bundled with content and items that will not be found anywhere else. The Collector's Edition will be available in stores on February 23, 2010. Developed by Ubisoft Montréal, the game will be available exclusively for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and the PC.
