Bohemia Interactive announced today the development of ARMA II Operation Arrowhead; the standalone expansion pack to ARMA II, one of the most anticipated sandbox PC military simulator of 2009.

Three years after the conflict in Chernarus, portrayed in the original ARMA II, a new flashpoint in the Green Sea region heats up and coalition forces led by the US Army are sent to Takistan to quickly restore peace and prevent further civilian casualties.

Bohemia Interactive has released patch 1.03 for Arma II.

1C Company has announced a new game in the Theatre of War series of tactical World War II titles. Theatre of War 2 is considered to be one the most realistic simulation of modern battle ever played on a PC. The new game is currently in development and is titled Theatre of War 2: Kursk 1943.

The Battle of Kursk lasted for forty nine days, from July 5 till August 23, 1943 and has made its way into history as one of the most crucial conflicts of WWII. It was the last strategic offensive the Germans were able to mount in the east. The resulting decisive Soviet victory gave the Red Army the strategic initiative for the rest of the war.

The EA Play Label of Electronic Arts Inc. today announced that The Sims 3 World Adventures, the first expansion pack to the #1 best-selling PC and MAC game in June 2009, The Sims 3, is in development and will ship to retailers worldwide the week of November 16, 2009.

505 Games U.S., in collaboration with 1C Company, have confirmed that the highly anticipated World War II flight combat title IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey will make its console debut on September 15, 2009 in North America, with pre-orders now being taken from retailers.

Developed by Gaijin Entertainment for Xbox 360 and PS3, DiP Interactive for Nintendo DS and SME Dynamic Systems Limited for PSP, IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey features the greatest aerial battles of the Second World War, and boasts the most realistic landscapes and aircraft seen in any flight game.

HPS Simulations has announced an Ancient Warfare Scenario Competition.  Here are the details:

All you have to do is  create a scenario using the game editor from any of the three Ancient Warfare Series games and email it to HPS at support@hpssims.com.  You can use any of the maps available from any of the 3 games in any of the 3 editors, so there are plenty of maps to choose from when creating that special scenario.

The Deadline for sending in your scenario is 31 October, 2009.

The most balanced and entertaining scenario will be judged in November and the prizes awarded the first week in December.
