Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War

Dawn of War: Soulstorm

Considering that Games Workshop’s Warhammer 40K universe is one of the hottest commodities in all of gaming, it really is no surprise that Dawn of War, Relic Entertainment’s PC conversion of the popular miniatures game, has proven to have such enduring popularity. Containing much of the grim and gothic fluff 40K fans so love, Dawn of War became an instant classic and spawned three expansion packs.

Give Us a Film Worthy of the Emperor!

After reading the dismal list of Academy Award nominees, I realized that Hollywood just doesn’t know how to make entertaining films anymore. I mean, have more than six people seen any of the nominated films? The record is even worse for cinematic science fiction. Let’s face it: sci-fi hasn’t had a solid offering for years, if not decades. You would think that with the arrival of robust CGI, Tinsel Town would be busily at work making all our entertainment dreams come true. Instead, we have been subjected to an endless stream of mindless sequels and thoroughly uninteresting tales. Perhaps Ridley Scott was correct when he remarked that he thought science fiction was dead?

Dawn of War--Winter Assault

No quarter asked nor given. That pretty much sums up Winter Assault, the sequel to Relic's award winning real time strategy title Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War. Attitude. That sums up Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War better than any other word. For those that don't already know, Warhammer started life as a tabletop miniatures wargame, which is set in a distant universe that is part fantasy and part sci-fi. The tabletop rules have since spun off a number of board and computer game products that attempt to capitalize on the rich story and edgy feel that has made the product so popular and led to its international following. The results have not always been a complete success.
