Our Rating System

We rate every game from 1.0 (Suckage) to 10.0 (Incredible). This score provides you with a quick way to identify which games may be worth your time and which ones to avoid. However, we encourage you to read the full review in order to better understand why the reviewer awarded a particular rating and to put the final verdict in proper context.

At GameSquad we understand that reviewing games is an inherently subjective business, and reviews are very much influenced by the biases and experiences that reviewers bring to the table. At the end of the day it's important to note that what a review boils down to is one person's opinion--nothing more and nothing less. And unlike some other sites, we're not trying to hide the fact that our reviewers are opinionated and we make no apologies for that. The way we see it, no review is intended to be the final word on any game. Instead, you should read reviews from multiple sources in order to get the best possible feel for a game prior to forking over your money.

The Ratings:

10.0
Incredible
. While no game is perfect, this is an exceedingly rare score that only a few special games ever earn. Put simply, this is as good as it gets.

9.0-9.5
Outstanding
. Could be improved upon, but games in this range have only very minor shortcomings or imperfections. Anything that scores this high gets a hearty recommendation from us.

8.0-8.5
Great
. Games in this range do have a few shortcomings and flaws, but the overall design far outweighs the weaknesses.

7.0-7.5
Good
. Games in the 7 range are generally well designed and fun, but there is room for improvement. Despite the shortcomings these games are still very much worth your time.

6.0-6.5
Fair
. These games could have been done considerably better, but are still generally functional. Fans may be able to forgive some of the flaws here.

5.0-5.5
Mediocre
. Games in this range have a lot of flaws, however, the strengths still outnumber the weaknesses--but just barely. In need of serious improvement.

4.0-4.5
Poor
. The weaknesses outweigh the strengths, and there are major flaws and shortcomings. Approach this with caution and don't expect too much.

3.0-3.5
Bad
. These games are generally of very poor quality and should have never made it out the publisher's door.

2.0-2.5
Terrible
. This is sure to disappoint most any gamer. The designer needs to make major improvements just to reach a passable level of quality.

1.0-1.5
Suckage
. When it gets this bad you know it simply isn't worthy of your attention. We don't know what the developers were thinking and we're not sure we want to know. Don't waste your money.
