Undead

Synopsis:

Peaceful, rustic Berkeley is a charming fishing community where life is sweet and the people friendly. All that is about to change. After losing her childhood farm to the bank, local beauty Rene decides to leave town and head for the big city. Suddenly, an avalanche of meteorites races through the sky, bombarding the town and bringing an otherworldly infection. Departing is going to be much more difficult than she had planned.

The living dead are awakened and Rene is now caught in a nightmare of zombies hungry for human flesh. She manages to find salvation in a small isolated farm house owned by the town loony, Marion. There she is met with four other desperate survivors. Together they battle their way through a plague of walking dead and discover that there is more transpiring than just an infection.

This Australian zombie flick looks like a winner.

I've seen Undead already. Twice in theaters in fact... And a couple more times in my house. :D

Hmm....

I checked the website for Undead and it said that it was looking at a 2005 release date here in the states. :(

Has it already been released on DVD?

Zombies!

I'm ready for em: http://www.randomhouse.com/crown/zombiesurvivalguide/

Got my guide & read it.

Actually, I am very much looking forward to both those movies! :D

"Saw" kicked so much butt.

I am also waiting to see "Shaun of the Dead".

If you want something really cool to read, I suggest trying to find back issues or trade paperbacks of The Walking Dead from Image comics. It has the best zombie story out there: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1582403589/qid=1102288068/sr=2-1/ref=pd_ka_b_2_1/104-1088883-5491920

I think Undead came out in 2002 here. '

Might have had a limited "festival" run in cinemas there as an aussie oddity.

Shaun of the Dead was great - nice to see the cameos by Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright in LotD :)

Well, I'm glad the Dead is alive and well. I was hoping the profit the Dawn of the Dead remake raked in would spark other film companies to finance more dead films.

The movie itself sounds interesting. Still it looks like it will fall short of drawing me into the point of realism. I crave a zombie movie that is centered around a few individuals involved in the opening moments of the crisis. I want to see a city overrun by zombies.

City of the Walking Dead came very close. The main character was there when the first zombies arrived in the city, and went through to his escape. With guns, they could just run and hide.

The "Special Bulletin" clip on the Dawn of the Dead remake DVD also game me the realism thrill, even if it could they could have done better on script and makeup.

Of course, beggers can't be choosers. I need my zombie movie fixes. :D

Reminds me of the zombie journal I use to keep when I was a teenager. The main character, Harold, was a special forces operator who fought all over during the zombie crisis. He kept the journal to make certain the future, if any intelligent life existed, would understand how mankind disappeared almost overnight.

"The Walking Dead" is a fantastic comic.

Also...
1) Saw was awesome, did not disappoint me.
2) Shaun of the Dead is definitely the best zombie romantic comedy. (And one of the best movies I've seen in a long time).
3) As for seeing "Undead" I had my methods, given the unfortunate circumstances of an American release being years away when I first heard about it. I can't wait to pick it up on DVD finaly. Which reminds me, Haute Tension, another movie that's been waiting for an American release is finally coming this Valentine's Day.

Almost any region works on my DVD player so....
Strange, unless you picked up a region-free and didn't know it. :D I keep meaning to finally get one, although at the moment, just using my computer works fine for any region.

I own a 38' Panasonic LCD TV with a DVD and VCR player all in one. The reason I purchased it is because it played most DVD's regardless of region.
