Little bit of trivia for the Ran/Kagemusha lovers out there: Kurosawa was either completely or almost completely blind when he directed Ran (!!!) and halfway when he directed Kagemusha. What a master of his craft!!!
Like Beethoven composing when he was deaf.

Kind of like Forest Gump as well.
I love this movie- could be my all-time #1. Just feel every possible emotion during the span of the movie - happy, sad, tense, funny, etc. Love Boogie Nights for the same reason, but it was a bit long. Both had really cool soundtracks as well.

favorite Western: "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance"

Pure entertainment value for the time spent: The Blues Brothers.

Comedy: Mars Attacks! and tie for second between ToP Secret! and The Naked Gun.

Yeah Blues Brothers I remember being pretty badass.
The Blues Brothers would be great if it was nothing more than the scene in Bob's Country Bunker. Everything else just makes it better.

Does anybody remember the Blues Brothers 2000 for Nintendo 64? The good ole days. So many good memories getting everyone over playing those games playing all night.

Movies, to me, are nearly as much about the "when" and "with whom" I saw them, maybe not necessarily any redeeming qualities...

Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein
Casablanca
The Fisher King
Fargo
Doctor Zhivago
Lawrence of Arabia
The Ten Commandments

Ghostbusters or maybe Groundhog Day. Could watch either one a zillion times. Course Stripes was pretty good too.

If I were going to go the "classic" route, it would be High Noon.

Okay, now I gotta take High Noon back. Just read that Bill Clinton considers it his favorite film. :(

It's not my favorite movie, but it is in the top 10--Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence.

It's coming out in a restored version on DVD, must buy.

Should we base this on what we own?

Then I'm looking at my copies of
-Barry Lyndon
-Monty Python and the Holy Grail
-Saving Private Ryan
-Blade Runner

But hey, I'm reading of LOTS of good choices by other people....and even a few I haven't heard of before...
