I wonder if MMP intends to wait for D-Day, the 6th of June to release Yanks2. For guys such as Kevin K (Hey Kevin), June 6th IS a Monday... Just sayin'.

Honestly, I just asked if this game was anywhere close to getting published and obviously not, but the snark from MMP supporters is really not cool. Pre order cancelled. not that MMP cares, but 6 month waiting period or more is not the way to go, plus I have nice copies of yanks I, just thought I'd help out.

While I definite am not going to cancel my preorder, I was going to comment that it seemed like Yanks 2 is taking unusually long to get to print after going up for preorder. But I went back and looked and 6 to 8 months to shipping from the start of preorders isn't absurdly long. RS, for example, went up for preorder on March 6, 2013 (http://forums.gamesquad.com/showthread.php?111628-Rising-Sun-Is-Now-Available-for-Preorder-from-MMP) and started shipping August 28, 2013 (http://forums.gamesquad.com/showthread.php?114227-Rising-Sun-Last-Call-for-Pre-orders!&p=1622818&viewfull=1#post1622818), so that was nearly 6 months. I think we were spoiled by HP, which went up for preorder on November 10, 2014 (http://forums.gamesquad.com/showthread.php?120110-Hakkaa-P%E4%E4lle!-Is-Now-Available-for-Pre-Order!) and started shipping in mid-February 2015 (http://forums.gamesquad.com/showthread.php?120110-Hakkaa-P%E4%E4lle!-Is-Now-Available-for-Pre-Order!&p=1735884&viewfull=1#post1735884), so only three months, but that was a much smaller product than Yanks 2.

I usually do not like cancelling anything I order nor did I pre order RS. The problem here is that when a company moves like pond water on a product, they need to be held accountable for their actions but with MMP we cut them a ton of slack. What gets me is when their hard core supporters start getting snarky it sends the wrong message I think to the rest of the community IE you don't like it? Tough luck, we can do without your pre orders.

But probably, you will buy it later anyway. Then for non-preorder price.
Whatever. It is entirely your choice what to buy or not to buy and at which price. Be it MMP or CH.

My personal approach to it: I have patience. I may have some 3000 uplayed scenarios not talking about CGs. I have Yanks 1 and tons of US counters, many unpunched. Since I keep records (roughly 280 games) I have played 3 scenarios from Yanks. I can even play Yanks 2 scenarios now as changes/errata have been published in Journal 11. As long as I don't have to pay anything before my (pre-)ordered product gets shipped, I simply can't be bothered regardless of MMP or TPP. Makes life easy...

Cheers,

To his point in the quoted sentence, page 19 of Journal 11 includes an update article on the status of the Slaughter at Ponyri HASL. "Over 15 years in the making"....."should be submitted for production in 2017." Assuming MMP's timetable is correct, does this mean an approximate 20 year design to distribution period for this HASL?

I'm sure 'Ponyri' will be the usual high quality MMP product, and I will certainly be ordering it...some day. Seriously though, "over 15 years"?

But it has not been in the hands of MMP for 15 years. It could very well be that the designers have been working on it for 15 years, on and off one would assume.

Exactly. You're getting a deal on the pre order price, have some patience and when you get it you get it. And for your patience you get it for less than everybody else. I'm not sure what people expect when they hear or read the term pre order.

Pre order means according to MMP that the product is ready to go to the printers and get produced. Not well we still have more playtesting, proofing blah blah to do on this product so you will have to wait. Man, I can just imagine KWASL shipping in in the fall at the rate MMP publishes stuff.

Can u imagine if Volkwagon did the same thing? Do you think they would survive as a company? Would the German consumer cut VW slack if it was 6 to 7 months late with a production item?

Yeah, just imagine if a car company asked for a $1000 up front pre order just for the privilege of waiting possibly two years for the car? No one would do that.

I am sure Ferrari could get away with it. :)

Klas,

I'm pretty sure that Jay was referring to what Elon Musk just accomplished with the Model 3 Tesla. 276,000 pre-orders at $1,000 a pop for a car that may not be available in large quantities until 2019.

Makes Yanks II at $0 down for 6 months or so look pretty reasonable by comparison.

If ever. I'm betting there's no way he actually delivers that car that was shown as a representation to anybody for $35,000. Unless he's planning on eating $10k per car.

Which is why I feel better about Yanks II than the Tesla. At least I know what is going to show up in the box even if it takes a little longer than expected. :)

Did you seriously give a complement on how FAST HP came out????!!!! Didn't that take an entire generation to see the light of day?

As to Yanks, preordered and not complaining. (Of course I have two copies of it already)
