Keep the reports coming. I'm not sure how the Soviet troops are supposed to stop the Germans but it is interesting watching the battle all the same.

I don't own RO but the history tells us the initial defenders were Guards riflemen, later reinforced by regulars. That said it appears most of the Red Army reinforcements are 1st Line rather than elements of the Guards division.

Or is that just a choice based on CPP?

Not sure why you think the Germans have the victory in its grasp, only one CG Day remains (5 to 8 Turns). We are not playing the original design, the CG ends 29th Oct.
