Hi!

Real dumb question

My oppononet is questioning my logic and now has me questioning myself

If a SMC carrying a BAZ is wounded by a sniper )while moving in the MPH), does he drop the BAZ right away?

I assumed he does because when and SMC gets wounded his IPC drops to 0.

He also drops to 3 MF right away as well, correct?

Thanks!

Peace

Roger

Hi Roger

He doesn't need to drop the BAZ. He can carry over his IPC of PP (A4.43), it just costs MFs. So with his IPC of 0, 3 MF, BAZ 1 PP, he's down to 2 MF. If he's already started moving, he can't recoup the lost MF by dropping the BAZ (A4.44). However if he's already moved over 3 MF, he's pinned (A17.2).

A4.42 2nd sentence: An Infantry unit loses one MF for each PP carried in excess of its IPC.

A4.43 2nd sentence: A unit can possess any number of SW/Guns.

A4.44 2nd half of 2nd sentence: even if a unit carries a SW during only one MF expenditure before dropping it, that unit may not recoup the portage cost used for that SW for use in the remainder of its MPh.

A17.2 2nd sentence: A SMC who becomes wounded (e.g., by Defensive First Fire) after already expending > 3 MF is pinned.

I don't see why he should drop it.
He has a 0 IPC, but he could still carry up to one PP.
If he has moved more than 3 MF, he is simply pinned (A 17.2).

OK I see the logic!

Learn something new every day :D

so, he'd now have 2 MF to spend if he keeps that BAZ.

Thanks for the answers.
