The Japanese setup for the two Coastal Artillery guns does not make sense to me. It reads as follows:

Set up on boards 38/62 withing 2 hexes of >= 1 beach hex and >= 1 hex from each other.

To me that means the two guns can setup anywhere within 2 hexes of any beach hex on boards 38 and 62 as long as they are not in the same hex. I looked on the MMP site for errata and there is none for this scenario.

The most likely answer here is that I am not understanding the obvious. My interpretation noted above doesn't really make sense to the scenario and it would have been easier to say setup within two hexes of the beach in the Japanese setup area.

Thanks

Mike

The text that says "set up in Hinterland hexes as noted" in the "main" instruction could also have said "on boards 38/62" - instead if saying that twice. But then set up intructions for the other group would have been a tad more akward to say....

So both groups must set up in "Hinterland hexes on boards 38/62" - but with the additional limitations for the two Guns.

Thanks Klas but the "and >= 1 hex from each other " is no limitation at all except to exclude them from setting up un the same hex which would be a rare occurrence I would think. So it would have been easier to say within two hexes of a beach hex and the guns may not stack.

That could have been worded that way instead, I agree. It's so old that I do not have any proofing files/notes left, so I can't check if anything was lost in translation.
