Winter Offensive Hotel Rooms

Rooms at the Comfort Inn (301-464-0089) for Winter Offensive are running out due to a remodeling that they did not previously tell us about. The room block has already been exceeded, so the rates there will be higher than we advertised (unfortunately).



For alternative (and newer) rooms, try the Courtyard by Marriott (240-544-1400) less than a mile away (with whom we have no arrangements).

Nice lady at reception did work to get me a discount. Not as cheap as the room block but only about $8 more per night. Have some extra bacon at breakfast and call it even?

Is the Hampton Inn on Major Landsdale Rd (in the other direction) any worse/better than the Courtyard (Could reasonably walk if needed without having to cross the highway).

Not a short walk by any means, but I normally do 10000 steps a day.

Hampton Inn does not require crossing major highways like Courtyard does.

It was posted on CSW that WO '25 was now scheduled for January 23-26, 2025, how soon before MMP posts hotel rates and reservations can be made?

Probably a weekend later than usual due to Inauguration activities in DC (MLK Birthday Holiday is also Inauguration Day in 2025). I think it's been a similar situation every 4 years.

A few days ago the hotel said “I am setting up a room block the kings will be $107.10 and the rooms with 2 double beds will be $116.10 per room per night plus tax and as always a full hot breakfast from 6:30m to 9:3am daily in our dining room.”

So reservations might be OK now.

So reservations might be OK now.

Yes, inquiring minds would like to know. Is this rate at the conference hotel or elsewhere? I’m about to reserve at Hampton Inn (for Hilton Honors points - priorities…). But I don’t want to pass up a deal I can’t refuse.

I was primed to go to WO this year, but we have to travel to Florida to visit my daughter that week.

So:
Option A. Go to Maryland and be a cardboard commander.

Option B. Go to Florida and be a snowbird.

I polled the audience and phoned in a lifeline. Looks Like I am off to FLA. You know the "Family First" thing. But I'll be at ASLOK in 25, Lord willing!

You can NEVER go wrong with a Hampton. I'll gladly pay a higher rate than roll the dice somewhere else. When Marie worked at Choice Hotels we used to get rooms at 1/4 rate. But most Choice Hotels are a disaster. Before I got Nuked, I was eyeing the Hampton inn on Major Lansdale Blvd.

IHG are pretty nice, too. As an aside since it’s Veterans Day, the Army contracts with IHG to run their on-base lodging. Fort Drum is amazing (said no one ever - but their Candlewood Suites is great, and convenient to 1000 Islands). IHG Historia at Carlisle Barracks is very nice and convenient for travel through that area.
