My copy's on the way, I was wondering if anyone here is interested in pbeming that one. :) The maximum value in this game is probably in its multiplayer.

when you recieve a pbem turn, do you get a replay of what your opponent did, or are you just dumped at your turn and have to guess at it from what you lost/where enemy units are now? I know the beta demo didn't have it, and when I asked about it's inclusion Hubert didn't seem that interested in adding it.

Relax mate, I had a different reply the first time and then went back to edit it, because I misunderstood the question the first time. I just told you I don't know because my game hasn't arrived in the mail yet.

As soon as I get the game and play it some, I will post my thoughts here.

However: I'm quite the amateur, not a seasoned wargamer, so some stuff may not be as detailed as some of you like. :)

I haven't played Strategic Command--briefly read some reviews and looked at the demo--but in terms of WWII grand strategic games I'm curious about the upcoming Hearts of Iron. And I'd probably put my money on that one rather than Strategic Command.

I'm just climbing the learning curve of Europa Universalis II. Hearts of Iron is based on the EU game engine, and this engine--with its detail and events--could probably make a pretty good WWII game.

Review at wargamer

Here's a detailed review at wargamer.

http://www.wargamer.com/reviews/strategic_command/

Just gonna be starting my pbem soon, so then I'll post about that later on.

I.M.P.O.:

Strategic command is great for beginners and novices like me, it feels like TOAW lite (extremely lite).

Once the game is installed, you don't need the CD to run the game. :)

Sometimes tho', I wish I could stack the counters.:D

I found it quite addictive - simple to pick up but still challanging. The AI is good at manuevering and deploying its units against my attacks. I find myself going, darn, foiled again! It also does a good job at attacking and breaking through the defences I put up. At times when I think I have scared away the AI by putting up a good looking defence, it goes away for a round or two and then comes back again.

I have no doubt that wargame veterans will find this game not as challanging. But I find it fun, something I can play in between the more demanding games. :)

PBEM:

It does replay your opponent's turn before letting you start yours.
