I take it that the complete silence is not a good sign then!

I have no idea why it is not being updated , or if it needs updating beyond the others of the same time period. - I can only guess that more important issues are being dealt with; i.e the new game , and of course, tweaking the recent releases. I personally would like the designers to throw all their efforts and time into completing the Campaign series, as that will be an incredible achievement in Napoleonic game terms.
If the game is functional in it's current state - then an update is unlikely. You can ask the question at the Scenario Design Centre or at the Napoleonic Wargames Club and maybe get an informed response or more relevant guesstimate.

Everything I have heard is that ALL the Nap games will be updated to the latest and greatest tweeks (primarily no CD patch, but minor game play stuff as well)
NRC just happens to be on the tail end of a long slow process.

NRC probably needed more work than most of the titles (as far as the PDT files go) as it had not received an update for some time. I do not think that it needed any graphical numbering update (as EC/WC did). The main issue here is that the fellow working on it has a full time job and a family and church life. He is thus very busy with life and is doing it in his spare time.

I would look for the update to be done no later than June is my guess.

Great news, NRC holds special place for me as my ist HPS game, plus I can scratch a Napoleonic itch and the old Eastern Front itch at the same time.

I am a big 1812 fan - like it MUCH more than the boring Waterloo battle.

Give me Russian cuirassiers and French Guard cav fighting it out any day! British and Belgians - BORING!

The reason why I like the Company level treatment of Waterloo is precisely because it opens up a slightly different tactical perspective on the battle. The reason why a lot of players become bored with the battle is no doubt because of it's formulaic structure, but also because so much has been written and produced and pronounced about it; that it begins to grate on you. I never used to play American Civil war battles, but find them interesting now precisely because I do not know the numbers involved or when or where re-inforcements arrive etc, something totally new which invites curiousity and interest. With Waterloo ; I could play it in my sleep.........also, it depends on your mood and circumstance - I bet , if there was a new film about the battle or interesting documentary; then everybody who had the game, would be playing it to death.
It will be the 200th anniversary, 1815-2015, soon - just needs a small touchpaper............!

You would like Campaign Bautzen. Not only did Rich White put together company level actions of portions of the Battles of Luzten and Bautzen but the entire Russo-Swedish War is portrayed on that scale.

Fwiw, I dropped a line to Rich Hamilton on this; I sort of vaguely recall seeing this question asked (or answered) on another board awhile ago -but I don't have the link readily available.

I think the situation involved that the lead scenario designer for NRC moved on from working with JTS some time back, and that the update is basically is Rich's responsibility. I don't know what all is going to be involved in the update and would defer to Bill's statement on that as he is much more familiar with the state of the NB series than I will be.

Anyway, it will be updated, I am sure of that, as it would have to be at the very least just in order to remove the disk in drive check that would make allowing for a digital download possible (or in other words that is how it worked in the past with titles like 1776 and other older titles that JTS wanted to make available to HPS to sell through their download facilities).

Now as to why this didn't get addressed earlier, basically speaking that people associated with the company really probably only spend very little time on messageboards in any given day -as I understand the situation, Rich has relied on people pointing him to reports of questions on boards for awhile (I know this because I have done this a bit- but I don't actually make the rounds like I used to as I got additional responsibilities that basically prevent that from occurring.).

Steve - I believe that Al "Famous" Amos is working on it but between the post office work and his family and other gaming commitments he does it as he can find time.

Believe me - these last updates were a royal PAIN to do. Not like I am getting really much funds for them either. So it was like a freebie to be honest. Which is why I basically said I would not be doing any more updates.

Working in the PDT files is a lot of work for me. Stroke in '98 and add to it my middle ear issues - just thinking about the combinations of values can cause me to pass out at times.

So guys - give Al some time. I am not sure that they are paying him to do this (I doubt it) so realize that these ver. 13 updates are a pain to work on and trying to bring NRC up to date IS a lot of work for him.

Updating the weather lines in particular is a LOT of work.

I give Al a big thumbs up for support to the community for doing this for John.

The hard work of all involved is very much appreciated! This is a very good series of games, and it is enjoyable to see the constant support and commitment put into the project.

I saw other good games die away some years after their release because the developers were not able to invest so much work into their product (or lost interest in it all together).

Anything I did for HPS is pretty much done from my end. FYI.

I will put out one more Leipzig update but that will have to do it for me. I no longer will continue to put out 18 updates as I did in the past. And if you think about it Leipzig, 1814 and Bautzen are the culmination of years of tweaking the values so by now I pretty much have a system of values set. If an error comes up that will not take too much time to correct well then I will help out but if the PDT file format changes I do not plan on going back and changing them in older games. Updates for Bautzen and 1814 will continue to roll out into next year.

FYI: I plan on sending files to John Tiller for an update for Leipzig and 1814 very soon. Just have to get my head back in gear. Loss of my mom and the last few months were a real killer mentally. Lately I am in lah-lah land ... must admit that taking a nice long break has been helpful. Well add to it that I am working for another company too and had to finish up a project. Multitasking these days is almost out the window. But by the end of the month I should be back to cranking out work.

Hope some of you guys try out the Wagram Mod that should be up on Steve's site soon. He had family illness too and has not been able to post it. Hopefully soon ...

Bill's Wagram mod is up on the site: http://hist-sdc.com/spotlights/nb_wagram.php - I also have a brief interview that I did with Bill a few months back (but I haven't had time to format that and post that).

Thanks for the update on NRC status as well ( that was more info than I had had - but then again, I think I probably got what I found off of another messageboard when the same sort of question had come up.).

I can relate to multi-tasking being an acquired artform ... :/ :D Seems as if it is my fate... enough said...

I am sorry to hear of the loss of your mother, Sgt Rock.
Thanks. It was a surprise really. She was a VERY young 84! ;)

I was always thankful that we had her this long. In 1983 we almost lost her. For 30 years she had very few health issues and we enjoyed good life together here in Boise.

Just went up to her grave site yesterday to see the headstone for the first time. Definitely got the tears coming again. Glad to see that the flowers arrived and were placed in time for Mother's Day.

Thanks for the thoughts Bill, but its not me. I haven't done any HPS stuff in a long while.
