Not quite, although I am sure it sounds good. He got impeached for lying to a grand jury. -- jim
Admittedly, I am being something of a partisan prick. LOL. Although Trump surrounded himself with illegal behavior and is himself is a moral sewer (committing adultery with a string of porn stars). Whether Mueller actually finds anything on Trump remains to be seen, though Mueller has done a lot more than Whitewater ever did. And Obama is light years above Trump in ethics and morals.

You may ultimately be right, but hammering someone over tax charges when the focus is Russia begins to feel a bit like a witch hunt. BTW - I thought same when Clinton got pulled in over his BJ and lying about it when the scope of the investigation wasn't about Clinton's BJ.

Hell, Mueller could indict your dog for taking a shit if he wanted. Eventually an investigator must exercise some reasonability to their investigation to the topic at hand v. trying to work up a body count.

I don't *believe* that's the case. I know if you lie to an FBI agent as part of an investigation, you can be taken to court for lying to a federal officer. This is what agents have told me over the years. -- jim
Which leads me back to square one. Just vote every f$%&king incumbent out of office, period - then I don't have to worry about who, did, or did not, lie about whether or not they are playing library in the government office (having their pages bent over).

Still, we got us a Bill Clinton, who went on national television to tell us he "...did not have sexual relations..." with Lewinsky.
I must have slept through this part of biology class in high school. Man, the things you miss when you aren't paying attention in class. BJs are "...not sexual relations..." - all this time, I was missing out!!!!!!!

:D

This is about Federal Agents.
which brings up an interesting question: "...For example, signing an application for a Federal Housing Authority (FHA) mortgage that contains a false statement, or knowingly overvaluing collateral assets is a crime. The penalty for this offense can be a maximum fine of $1,000,000 and 30 years in prison..." from your website. 2007 saw this happen nation-wide - how come those responsible were not prosecuted en masse? Too many to charge so it was "too big to handle" for US Federal courts?

The housing meltdown was due PRECISELY to the above example occurring time and again. I am 100% positive the US attorneys did not prosecute all these hundreds of thousands of cases nation-wide. So they did not do their job as federal agents, and they should be prosecuted for failing to follow the relevant statutes.

Let me know when the incumbents decide to actually prosecute the US attorneys in every state in America for failing to prosecute the hundreds of thousands of mortgage FHA applications which contained blatantly entered false information and over-valuation statements. At the very least, by this mark ,there should be about 35% of all home owners in 2007, and around 50% of all mortgage lenders in 2007, serving 30 year sentences in federal prisons at this time, with about 20 more years each, to go on their sentences. - Not to mention the billions of dollars in regained monies from the fines of a million EACH.

Nope, don't see it.

so, it is as with every other of the millions of unenforced laws - why have them if no one is willing to enforce them?

While I concur generally with your sentiment, I have seen the law used to coerce people to talk who have been exposed for lying to a federal agent. -- jim

Usually if you lie to an agent when you are not under oath they can charge you with obstruction of justice. i think you need to be under oath for perjury.

Here's something on the topic of the thread title. Mona Charon gets escorted out of CPAC for calling out Christians and conservatives for being moral hypocrites:

Said Charen: “I’m disappointed in people on our side for being hypocrites about sexual harassers and abusers of women who are in our party, who are sitting in the White House, who brag about their extramarital affairs, who brag about mistreating women.”

“This is the party that endorsed the Roy Moore for the Senate in the state of Alabama, even though he was a credibly-accused child molester. You cannot claim that you stand for women and be all right with that.”

As I recall, HRC was heavily criticized for standing by Bill Clinton. Yet the morally superior party, the Republicans, endorses a child molester and a serial abuser in the white house.

something like Tony Mendoza in CA; or Al Franken in MN? It's not a partisan issue- fact is far too many men in EVERY capacity where they felt "above recrimination or accusation" because of their own prestige, power and money - have pulled this shiite. Every last one of them are , as you say, "moral hypocrites"

Oh here is another one from the superior Christian, conservatives: Missouri governor impeached for threatening to distribute pictures of his nude girlfriend in bondage. Also charged with felony invasion of privacy.

Conservatives are the biggest bunch of moral hypocrites. LOL.

and getting a BJ in the Oval Office is "...not having sexual relations..." either.

and raping a 14 year old slave was perfectly acceptable behavior for a Democrat - and screwing a Hollywood actress in the limo in the garage was just fine for JFK, forget what Jackie may have had to say about the lipstick stains on his white collar.

the list goes on, and on, and on......

depravity derives from lack of sociological or psychological control over the base human instinct of lust. You can't "solve" depravity. You can condemn it (rightfully) or deride it(fruitfully), or expose it (mandatory in any form of civilization) - but you cannot "solve" it - only seek to determine why it occurs and address it from a social and/or punitive aspect.
