Is there some kind of existential force which affects our DRs? Similar sort of thing to the Star Wars force. I suspect there may be. When I feel crap I tend to roll crap. When I feel well I tend to roll well. I've noticed this over and over.

Is "The Force" real or complete psychobabble?

May The Force Be With You.

You're imparting human emotions onto cellulose inanimate objects with no capacity to reason, therefore impossible to acquire, develop , or experience those feelings.

Dice have no memory, none. they cannot recall whether you "felt bad" about you play last turn or not.
:D some dicebots, like random.org can actually become somewhat more actual random than 6 sided cellulose creations. There is a variety, even to so-called " precision dice" - I have not yet encountered any made in the vacuum of the distant space beyond our galaxy, where gravitational force projections would be as minimized and random as background noise scatter in the universe. The influence of gravity can and does affect anything man creates.

Sometimes, when your mind is motionless like a placid Lake with no ripples, the universe speaks in soft whispers.

The force is between your ears. When you feel crap you place higher significance on the crap, more so the good or the average. The reverse is true as well.

You have heard of the dice gods, right? Sacrificing precision dice once in a while can go a long way :)

Yes! It's called "gravity," and it is one of the most mysterious forces in the universe.

And in some conditions, it is superseded by a relative theory.
There also is finger grease (mixed with saliva and other bodily fluids) viscosity.

One of my main opponents is always changing the dice when they aren't working for him. I usually try to convince him how close that is to near-literal insanity. I use the same (precision) dice every game. They've made me cry; they've made the other guy cry.

My opponent Big D: says, "But if you change the dice you change your perspective and outlook which may in fact be affecting the rolls. Bad rolls lead to bad attitude; bad attitude leads to more bad rolls. New dice = new attitude = new rolls"

I sit there staring at him with a constipated smile on my face, trying desperately not to raise an eyebrow. Slowly the same smile crosses his face. I say, "So basically, assuming that's true, (and it ain't), you just admitted the dice have nothing to do with it. Since you know this, then you know changing them is meaningless and the new attitude that comes with changing the dice could come with or without changing the dice. Padded cell in your future"

Having said that, the guy is one of the luckiest SOBs I've ever met when it comes to dice.

Not insanity. Just the lingering remainder of instinctive animism, which takes the opportunity to pop up when our rational thought seems inefficient to solve problems of current life.
Quite like when you shout at your car or computer when they don't work as expected.

You still yell at an inanimate object as if it could obey you.
That is the first step before the voodoo ritual.

Though I do that a lot, it's simply a way at venting anger. Though given the weirdness of reality as exposed by quantum mechanics, there might be some absolutely infinitesimal effect.

I work in a casino and deal mostly craps. I promise you, you wouldn't believe all the supersticious nonsense that craps players have. Die goes off the table/stick change/buying in in the middle of someone's roll/just saying the word 'seven'/that we can actually control what they roll/etc. etc.. Some players turn their bets off because a certain # rolled saying 'a seven ALWAYS follows a #'. It's quite humorous actually..

I just view it like the views of religion. If you're a true non-believer no amount of proof could convince you to change your views, if you are a true believer, no amount of proof is required. Just enjoy your view and hope for the best.

Beyond Valor and ASLSK dice are good enough for me!
You won't find me playing with any of that expensive 'balanced' stuff - I've got modules to buy! :D

I do reserve the right to change dice mid-game though - just sayin'
