I can't seem to be able to find the rule reference for what the white background to the ROF stands for.

For any newbies who are curious about the topic: He is referring to the white background on the ROF information on some specific vehicles (refer to the chapter H notes for these - usually US vehicles).

That counter shorthand would represent Multiple Hits

It's only on Sherman Tanks (maybe Chaffee's too). You have to look under the U.S. Vehicle notes.....

US vehicle note "R" to be exact.

Also, "in a Gun Dual (C2.2401) its total Firer-based TH DRM are halved (FRD) prior to adding any Acquisition DRM."
