My opponent and I are playing a Air Drop scenario, and we were unable to figure out a situation with 1/2" (SW) parachutes. If 1/2" parachutes are targeted, what are the mechanics for resolution and what happens if they fail the MC? Also, per E9.42, a 1/2" parachute takes a NMC when it lands in a Jungle or Swamp - What happens if it fails a MC? We did not see a clear answer in the ASLRB.

E9.3 "Hazardous Movement DRM even apply to an attack (only) on an Aerial SW in an attempt to destroy/malfunction it (A9.74)." From this I would guess that Random SW Destruction is the only way to affect a ½" parachute. Although that only applies to possessed SW (EXC: indirect fire & OVR), one suspects that it should be applied to ½" parachute counters as if possessed. If the result is not a K/KIA, a ½" parachute is not affected.

E9.42 references G2.213 & G7.32 (at least, as of J11 errata), and those rules describe the results of failure of the MC.

Thanks jrv. In the heat of battle, we just didn't see those references. Also it seems it would be more simple to just say in E9.42 that SW are eliminated if failing the MC, instead of referencing the terrain rules, which then state it there.

Further complicated by the fact that neither the parachute counter nor the unpossessed SW is a unit and therefore should not be able to be targeted at all (See Index for Unit).
