I got my copy for £40 brand new from E-bay, only just out of the shrink wrap, unpunched and such, so I was very lucky, my whole Panzer collection cost me a grand total of £120 so am very happy with that.
Just got a nice, new unpunched MBT for £42 from a local player. Now, if I can find the time ..

To me pretty much as well mate, a new copy is £70. Hopefully I will find the time to satisfy a curiosity. Very different for you as you know those tanks!

True Jack,

I bought Harold Coyles 'Team Yankee' the other week as I had it back in the day when I first joined up and loved the book (even bought the Wargame as well) and that sparked my interest in that possible period as well, reading his book brought back fun memories of being crashed out from camp on practice alerts etc.
Am looking at the scenario booklet as we speak/type and deciding what Scenario to have a go at first, am also thinking about building a Team Yankee Campaign Game when i get time to myself.

All the best mate

Is there a set date for BAOR and FRG yet? and what about the France 40 module? I hope they are out sooner rather than later. I have to admit Panzer and MBT are my go to games now (SoS 3rd Ed is always set up on my second table, and loads of VASSAL OST as well).
According the GMT's February update, BAOR and FRG (German expansion) is set for Q4 this year (2017). Doesn't look like France 40 module is scheduled this year though..

Thanks,

That gives me time to save up for them (Just bought the whole Panzer set and MBT, and the hobby coffers are now well and truly empty).

Cheers

Finally got my hands on Terraforming Mars and it's a HIT! The family is really enjoying it! At last a winner I can sink my teeth into!
Nice, I've been looking for a copy. Hopefully, it will be reprinted soon.

Did you not read the full post ?!?! "a beautiful girlfriend.........", Sounds to me like its Viagra for breakfast, Cialis for lunch, and the imagination for dinner....
Don't you see my icon? Don't need no stinkin Viagra. I'm a -1 on the battlefield (and under the sheets) and she passes all her morale checks.

To anyone who likes co-operative games I highly recommend that you look into the game called V-Commandos. It's a WWII game where a team of commandos work together to complete different missions.

You can pick from among different Allied corps: U.S. Raiders, British SAS., Devil’s Brigade, SOE, etc. It's not a serious look into WWII missions, but more of a Hollywood view like The Dirty Dozen or Kelly's Heroes, which ain't a bad thing when playing with non-WWII serious friends and family.

I ordered the main game and the expansion Secret Weapons from Funagain.com. There's also another expansion called The Resistance with extra missions, commandos and terrain. Check it out here at BGG:

The 4th member of our Pandemic Legacy group couldn't make it, so Saturday night I played Nations with fellow ASLers and GSquaders James and Rob. Nations is a Civ type game played over 4 eras with Wars, building Wonders, taking over Colonies and building Resources within your own territory. Excellent game with 3 players. Highly recommended for a group of 3 warmongers, not so much for families and friends. Both guys want to play it again soon, as do I.

Joined a euro gaming group which plays Tuesday nights. Last night we played Pillars of the Earth. It's an older game that's getting reprinted in 2017, so I wanted to show some of them how to play, so they could decide if they wanted to buy it when it's released. Both guys are going to buy it. It's a really good and highly popular worker placement game with lots of theme.

Then we played Dice City with the All That Glitters expansion. It's a pretty cool and fast little dice rolling game. You roll 5 dice and place them on a grid. Whatever you roll is where you place your dice and get that resource/benefit. With the resources you buy cards to place on the spaces on the grid, so you get better stuff and with more cards a better chance to land on them. This would be great for the family and the guy who showed us how to play said it was his 15-year-old daughter's favorite game.
If you like Pillars of the Earth the board game, you may enjoy the novel(s) that are its source material. Not bad historical fiction in my view.

Been playing Through the Ages and Splendor recently.

Over Xmas played 14 games of Cities & Knights with my daughter and wife and finished 0-14 with my daughter winning 11 and my wife winning 3. Finally won 2 out of 3 when my daughter was home for winter break.

The Splendor master is Dave Ginnard--- I think he won half of the or 4 of 7 games we played at Rodney Callen's ASL hoedown in Feb. You gotta watch that Ginnard... he's full of surprises.

I checked out Nations several times in the game store... but just wasn't sure. Now that I've seen your recommendation it will be added to the must get list.

Do you every play at Uncle's Games in downtown Spokane? Stopped by there last May while on the way to Seattle with my son.... nice store as is the bookstore its connected too.

Because of the lack of traditional wargamers in Asheville, NC, where I now spend two nights a week, I have fallen into the dreaded hands of the miniaturists there. Have played WWII skirmish style games "Poor Bloody Infantry", "Panzer" and "Disposable Heros". Should never have attended "Cold Wars" and "Historicon" last summer while in Harrisburg.
I attended a con with a buddy about 13 years ago which led to a crazy period of miniatures for me as well. WWII, American Civil War, Modern, Zombie Apoc, American Indian Wars, American War of Independence and others. It was great fun but soooo costly in time and money. (Not to mention storage space!) Finally my aging eyes and unsteady painting hand had the final say and I sold out of the hobby and returned to board games. It was great fun but it was time to move on. My workshop was converted to a more dignified gaming den and my paints and terrain material and foam board and the other tons of flotsam anyone miniature gaming is acutely aware of made way for my books and maps and boxed games. I will miss it but in a strange way Im kind of glad its over.

Oh and heres another shout for Arkham Horror - Awesome game! Try it with all the add ons! Whew!

Played my first game of Terraforming Mars and I can't make up my mind. I dig the theme and the components are top notch, but this is another engine builder. Other similar style games have left me flat (Agricola, Race for the Galaxy, German Railroads). So I don't know if I like this game or not. I guess I'd better keep playing until I figure it out.

My suggestion is to play it with the drafting option before deciding. I liked the game with the no drafting. I really liked the game with drafting. It makes the game more interactive. If you don't care for it after trying the drafting option then maybe the game isn't for you...

What are you drafting, the development cards? Since I'm new to the game and don't know what the hell I'm doing, how would that help me figure out if I like the game? By the time I know what I am doing well enough to draft effectively, I will probably know the game well enough to figure out if I like it or just fell in love with the chrome.

When you get the 4 cards at the beginning of turns 2+, instead of just picking from the 4 you get you do the following:
Set one of the 4 aside and pass 3 to the next player
From the 3 cards you just got you set one aside and pass 2 to the next player
Continue that until you have 4 cards
From those 4 cards you can buy as many as you want

This makes deciding which cards to keep more interesting...

Adds maybe 15 minutes. You are all thinking at the same time so the premium is not high once you are moderately familiar with the game. I wouldn't use it with first timers, but once you have a play in it works well...
