Do you like to get close in to the action, or do you prefer the view from the top? Why?

Tactical.

Advanced Squad Leader.

Medal of Honor, Rainbox 6, Battlefield, Ghost Recon, Call of Duty (all series)

Why? I want it personal.

I love tank vs tank in ASL and MBT, aerial dogfights in Check Your 6!, Jutland naval battles....

Tactical is cool, but I think it's also the most difficult to do well. And so there are more good games to choose from at the other scales.

I enjoy tactical for face to face gaming. For solitaire games or something that is going to be set up and played by email-I prefer strategic games as it is easier to take a break from the action and return to it days or even weeks later.

Operational for me, you get to consider the wider factors like supply lines etc so more management involved.

I do love ASL, and playing it at least once per week. But I prefer much more the upper scales, as they "treat" logistics, commands and have a general outlook of "what is going on".
