Nice, glad you got the urge to do some painting. I go through periods where the last thing I want to do is paint a mini. Fortunately I have not had one lately, I have a bunch of stuff to paint. My daughter and I took the plunge into Infinity a couple weeks ago. Man the minis are so nice, very well cast and dynamic poses. The game looks fairly easy to pick up. I've taken a break from gluing Germans together and been painting some of the Infinity figs and doing a lot of terrain, sci-fi stuff, constructing. Everything I've read states that you need a lot of terrain for the game or you'll get pasted any time you try to move. Been fun, a new venture for me as I have only ever done historicals. Wanted to get up some pics but my camera isn't cooperating again, piece of junk, Vivitar!
Thank you. And I agree, it does take some gumption to get in the mood to build and paint models and armies, not to mention I only have the very basic of tools for it lol.

And I cannot wait to see what your figurines look like! Infinity has some great looking models.

For me, wargaming has a lot to do with the way things look. I find it hard for a game to keep my attention if it doesn't look good. Figs don't need to be painted to a 10/10 scale, but I absolutely can not game with unpainted figs. Terrain has to be to a good standard also. I know I sound spoiled or maybe even a whiney little b*tch, but since I game almost exclusively solo, I think its a reasonable standard to accept. Which brings me to Infinity. The website is chock full of photos, some of them simply stunning. My daughter and I have been on the site a lot trying to figure out what factions to play and which figures to start with. So we had been looking at the beautifully painted minis quite a bit. When we did finally make our order(thnx "Neal" at the War Store, place rocks!) I told my daughter not to be disappointed when she started looking over the order when it arrived. She was. You get so used to looking at the figs on the website that unpainted metal can be a shock. The figs are absolutely wonderful to paint though, and I'm having fun painting them. I'm not sure if I'm really a very good painter. I've not shown much of my work to anyone, tho' I do have a couple pics in my profile albums. I'm close to finishing the Combined Army starter pack and when I do I'll try to put some pics up. By the way, this is my first ever game not historically based. After 37 years of gaming historicals I think that says something about Infinity. Now, 'nuff readin', get to painting!

I know exactly what you mean about gaming with unpainted models! I see too many pics of people playing with GW armies mostly unpainted. I don't want to be "one of those people" lol. And yeah, the models are gorgeous and I can completely understand her disappointment when they arrive unpainted.

And please post pictures! We have an Infinity thread so any info you have, plus pics ;), post 'em there so we have it all in one spot.

I never thought you would have been "one of those..." but then one never knows, does one:D. Just finished the 3rd Morat Vanguard Infantry fig and the Daturazi Witch Soldier(all from the starter pack), was trying to get some pics but they're coming out crap. Think I may try my daughters camera see if I can get some with it. Will definitely keep you posted.

Lol true! But I'd rather put a fully painted army on the table to be honest. And I cannot wait to see them!

Also, here is my crummy paint job so far with my 3 space marines lol :paperbag: I've got 2 layers of brown on them and some white in the areas where I plan to have the armor white. The next color is yellow which will be quite difficult.

What do you mean crummy paint job? Looking like a good start to me. You are staying inside the lines quite nicely:p Just kidding bud. Yellow has always been a pain in the butt for me. There is a guy that has painting tip vids on the Brookhurst Hobbies webpage, Dr. Fausts painting clinic I think they call it. I believe he is on you tube also. He does some very nice work but has some great teaching vids posted up. I've gotten some great tips watching his stuff. II have been trying to learn the wet blending technique myself. Not doing too badly, some that I've done I think hmm, not bad, then the next instant I'll be cussing and griping that I'll never get this technique down. Everybody says it just takes practice. One problem that makes it tuff for me is it is so dry here in AZ. It's hard to keep the paint moist on the model, even with retarder.
Like your Marines there buddy, thanks for the pics.

Project Waterloo continues to move forward, no unpainted minis on my table either:D

I now have 24 Battalions of infantry, 4 regiments of cavalry, 2 gun batteries and one command stand:laugh:

Here is a quick pic of the last off the brush, had a bit of fun with this base and just another 51 Battalions til I am finished, as usual these are Adler 6mm

Nice minis there K. I don't understand anything about them or the game but they are cool looking models. As usual thanks for sharing Ian, very nice models and I really like the stand idea, very "action" Kind of funny, I love Nappies, collecting, gaming, reading, painting... But I was thinking the other day. I've heard many people, and I'm guilty myself, refer to Napoleonic gaming as the black hole of gaming. You never finish it seems. But thinking about it I think that may be true of any gaming period. It all depends on how much you want to do. Nappy gaming can be done on skirmish level just like any other period. Or you can go B*lls out and collect and paint 100,000 figures.

Now on to my project. As I've been talking about, the Infinity project is moving along at a slow but steady pace. I finished painting the Combined Army starter pack. Now I'm painting the Yu Jing starter. At the same time I'm trying to get a bunch of terrain built. Infinity does require a lot of terrain to block LOS so you don't get shot to heck before you have a chance to move. I've also put together 3 stands of trees, mainly for my Bolt Action project but they can be used for Infinity also. I put together some more Infinity minis last night and am going to get them primed up now. Good luck all with the various projects.

Thanks. And Necromunda is the only Warhammer 40K skirmish game produced by Games Workshop. It's about hive gangs (think gangs on a planet like Coruscant from Star Wars) who fight over turf and other things. Campaigns have pregression where your guys can buy weapons and other things as well to make them more potent.

100,000 models!! :surprise: Holy crap! That's a lot of models!

I'm really looking forward to seeing what you've done with the Infinity stuff. Have you read through the rulebook? (Sounds like you already have.)

Sounds like a cool project there Blackcloud6. Would like to see pics if you can. The 100,000 Nappies were a video on you tube. I think the guy was from Spain IIRC. Yes Kawaiku, I have read through the rulebook and it is very interesting. It goes 208 pgs which includes basic army lists and pages with templates to copy for the game. The majority of the pages are story that gets you familiar with the world(s) and factions, and does it in a neat way from the perspective of people in the world instead of just bombarding you with the information. The way it has been presented actually has me wanting to pick up the "Campaign Paradiso" and "Human Sphere" books. The actual rules are only 35 or so pages(with lots of pictures and examples of play). But there are some aspects that are a bit confusing and it seems the only way to understand a couple things is to play, screw it up, re-read and play again. But at no time do they seem overwhelming.
My daughter and I will start with the basic quick start rules for a while then begin incorporating some of the more detailed rules. She is bringing her camera here today from home and I'll try to get some pics this afternoon. The models so far have been fun to paint. The poses are very dynamic and the variety helps to keep you interested in painting up the next one. From what I can gather, there is no need to paint up more than 3 or 4 of any one troop type. The strength of your team lies in the variety you have on it. Also, everything I've read states that the game can handle any number of minis with out breaking down, but most games have about 10 figures. The rules state that if you play with more than 10, you have to start another group, with their own Lieutenant, and they operate separately, but in support with the other group. This seems to lend itself perfectly to multi player teams, although I think one person could easily handle 20-25 figures.

Oooh I really love that blue
Thanks

It is the Vallejo Imperial Blue airbrushed with a slightly lighter blue (Mordian Blue?) highlight and Nuln Oil wash. Then when all done (except eyes, lenses and the purity seal) I hit each figure with a Testors Acrylic Semi-Gloss Clear; that really makes the colors pop out.

Nice minis there Blackclloud6. Do you use a spray for the semi-gloss? I usually like to use a brush on clear so I can hit some areas with a matte and some with a gloss. Not familiar with the game or minis so don't know if there would be any areas that would call for a matte finish. Nice job though, like them.
Been back to painting Infinity Combined Army and Yu Jing after spending a week away furiously working on terrain for our first game. We were going to play after church this last Sunday but the plans fell through after a pipe break at my house and 3am wake up to go fix it. Then on the way to church sunday morn had a flat and by the time I got back to dads house I just didn't feel like playing a game. So my daughter and I have plans to do one this Friday. This will be our first and we're just going to use the Quick start rules from the web. They are really easy so it should be a fun experience. Good luck with your projects everybody.
