I'm out in the sticks in Upstate New York (Madison county) and have 1 regular FTF opponent, 1 little less than regular and a newbie whose family we have to convince it would be ok to spend more time with us :cheeky:

Heard there were some folks in nearby Syracuse who also play, but haven't been ablt to hook upwith them.

Our small group has an interest in that NY tourney in Albany, so hopefully we can get some more FTF experience.

I think this is the first pastor I have come across. Very interesting (in a good way).
I never met another one, but I remember an article in the General wrote by one... and Homer Games' "Sally" attends a church whose (methodist?) pastor plays wargames.
Here, in Europe, it may even be more atypical than on your side of the Ocean, as many christians are pacifists.
I am in a personal paradox - I am at peace with it.
As a pastor, I refused to serve with a weapon, as I consider one mustn't mix faith and political power.
Here in Switzerland, every man is drafted and if his health allows, follows a 4 month recruit school, with 3 weeks rehearsal every year until the age of 30 (and more if the Army decides he can become a NCO - no choice if you are choosed to ber a corporal).
Each soldier retains his weapon (usually a SIG assault rifle) at home and also must do a firing exam each year...
It is a "militia" style of army - but with a purely defensive policiy (Switzerland has entered UNO last year only, and thus has lost part of its neutrality very recently).
I was considered unable to serve for health reasons - otherwise, I would have served in the medical troops...
I am in Civil Protection (assists in helping people in case of floods, major accidents, etc.).
But I do love wargames ! And ASL over all ! :D

Boxcar Brigade in Oklahoma City

We have a small group of 8 active players which meets every Thursday night at the only game store in town. Starting in the Fall and going through the Spring, many of us also play on Saturdays at the same location. I am the self appointed president of the group and have advertised our existence on the MMP site. So far, two people have contacted me to learn ASL pending moves to this region.

One of our members just bought a house so four of us are looking to experience our first campaign game using Red Barricades.

I know there are other people in the Oklahoma City area who play the game and would like to get them involved in our small club. More learning occurs when one plays against a greater number of opponents.

Well there are all sorts of hot chicks in my neck of the woods. I regularly play against a bevy of 18 yo swimsuit models/beach volleyballers. We have weekly massage/hot tub/ASL gatherings every week. Each gathering there is a theme, one week is Stalingrad, the next is strip ASL, followed by the Bulge, and the next week might be desert. A great group to play with, unfortunately membership is limited and once I die, someone else is welcome to my spot.

In my neck of the woods there is myself and one other person. Fortunatly we get to play quite a bit. We have been semi-officially adopted into the St. Louis group since we are only two hours away and we make it to most of their big get togethers.

ASL in Iraq

Thanks to the ASL Starter Kit's provided by MMP for free. We've been able to get an ASL group started here in Iraq. We play once or twice a week as operations permit and it's been a great way to unwind.

There are about 4 regular players and 2 or 3 others that drift in and out.

If it weren't for the Starter Kit, we'd be pretty limited in what we could do here.

Line In The Sand mini-CG next, play some desert for the 1st time after having our arses kicked as Johnny Canuck in OVHS.

There is an ASL community in Barcelona where I live. When I moved here I contacted them in the Alpha Ares gaming club. But my job doesn't allow me to play FtF: I have a very variable schedule. Sometimes I work all night, I may have free time a Wednesday or a Monday but have to work the weekend... last time I'd got a free Saturday was August 21st and I had worked the night before! When I begun to study History two years ago I went shorther of time.

So I have ASL players near me but I can't play with them. Fortunatelly we have VASL.
