On Wednesday night I was engaged in a four-player, 30 turn game of SPI's Operation Typoon when, on turn 10, the light fixture on the ceiling detached and landed directly on Tula scattering chunks of broken glass and counters all over the room.

Fortunately, no one was hurt.

I have been playing a lot of Talisman (4th edition - edge translation of Fantasyflight's game) with expansions, these last weeks.
Having a blast, as it does not ask tremendous planning (even though there are sound strategies to develop) but does immerse you in the fantasy world theme quite well.

Played a game of San Juan with my wife last night.

Looking forward to a game of Twilight Struggle next Saturday night.

Just finished a game of Fighting Formations from GMT. I liked it, very different, especially the iniative track mechanic.

Vidal
Bought FF when it first came out and was scheduled to play a buddy, but it fell through. Ive been looking for a decent wargame a level higher than ASL, but still tactical. It looks good.

Will be playing the new version of Kings & Things and Chaos in the Old World this weekend with my boys.

I hate that damn game....I never win!
San Juan or Twilight Struggle? :)

Fighting Formations: Grossdeutschland is fun and interesting, and the initiative track is an excellent mechanism and very innovative. It's not ASL though :)

What did you think about Homesteaders? Just picked it up as an Xmas present for my sister.
It was called 'Le Havre light'. Played Le Havre once, would have to agree. Easier to learn, interesting and quick enough to play often enough to get good at it (which was the problem with Le Havre)

Might pick it up myself if I don't get 7 Wonders.

Over the weekend we played:
A Few Acres of Snow
Power Grid
Dominion with Intrigue and Prosperity
(the "Deconstruction" setup was particularly nasty)
Struggle of Empires
Le Havre
Galaxy Trucker

All were entertaining...

Played the new version of Kings & Things. We were just getting to the good part where we were all going to buy Citadels and fight, then Logan played Dark Plague which wiped out pretty much most of the buildings and set us back two turns. So, we bagged the game, because we were going out to dinner. We'll play again next weekend, but we're taking out the Dark Plague, Terrain Disaster and Vandals to speed the game up. Too hard for three teenagers to play a game longer than 2-3 hours.

Do you work together? How would it work for 4 players and how long does it take to play?

I played a game of Hannibal: Rome vs Carthage on Saturday night.

Very interesting. It was a learning game, although I managed to destroy the Carthaginian raiding force and kill Hannibal in turn 4. Sweet :)
