Just going over the rules now, compared to ASL, easy. After 30 years I still love this game ( Had it and FotV back then)

Cheers

Perry

P.S anyone got a spare Copy of 'Fire on the Volga' going for a decent price:devious:

Wow, that looks like my kind of game - Does it play much like, say VitP?
Sorry Pete, I'm new to gaming anything other than ASL, so I don't have a point of reference for VitP.

I'm liking it so far. We've played Empire of the Sun and Fire in the Sky. We've only played a few turns of Asia Engulfed and I think I like it best.

Marrying Mr. Darcy: Having eloped with Mr. Wickham, Lydia uses a full-on PR campaign to regain her reputation for the win.

Cards Against Humanity: In a world ravaged by Sean Penn, our only solace is in Sean Connery. (Hmm, maybe that makes too much sense for this game.)

Played 1960: The Making of the President a few weeks ago. Looking to get my two opponents for this game ready for Twilight Struggle. I'm ready to try it out!

My best one from Saturday night: "I do not know with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with... Passive-aggressive Post-it notes."

Also played Skulls, Code Names and Elder Sign.

This weekend will be an ASL binge in Chicago.

Just finished a campaign of Silent Victory. It's a solo game where you're in charge of a US sub in the Pacific, going after Japanese shipping.

Great feel and tension to it.

I hit a minefield and was lost with all hands.

Two weeks worth of Asia Engulfed has been posted at my Wargaming blog. The Americans are beginning the assault in New Guinea while the Japanese are running amok in China.

Check it out at http://wargamingwichita.blogspot.com/

Thanks

Did some prep work on Star Wars Armada game that I am learning---took a guy's idea he posted on BGG and using it as basis for both learning how to play as well as a solo CG. Will start with the core set and use those ships+fighters as initial OOB for campaign set in an Outer Rim system, and adding more ships+fighters as I learn/campaign progresses.

Just picked up Star Wars Rebellion. Gave it a solitaire spin, great thematic game, much like War of the Ring comes to Star Wars. You have strategy, tactics, the many Star Wars adventures that give it such great flavor. And the minis are really cool. Death Stars, star destroyers, TIE fighters, X-wings, stormtroopers, rebel troopers, etc. Great map of the Star Wars galaxy with all of the planetary systems you'll recall from all of the various Star Wars movies and TV shows.

Can't wait to get in a FtF playing.

More Star Wars X Wing for me. I feel like a ASL newbie, learning and learning, getting frustrated etc. I feel like I get a grasp on a certain ship or pilot combo and then I run a different list and start all over again on the learning. Kind of like in ASL you have to play the Russians different than the Americans and the Japanese different yet. Lots more combinations and variations in X Wing.

Setting up Scenario 4G/R House to House from Nova games Battle for the Factories, awaiting a copy of Nova games Fire on the Volga, it ain't SoS 3rd edition, but it's good enough until I can afford one or SoS 4th Edition arrives (next year).

Got in a 4 player playtest of my future Spiel de Jahres winner LAWN WARS.

I managed to win when the rains came right after a bear crapped in
Leon's yard forcing him to go back and remove the leavings. I had one less unmoved hex.

Once again Nadir Elfarra shows his map making skills..

Played Castles of Mad King Ludwig with my daughter. Fun game and different to what I've played before. Looking forward to "game night" this week and hoping to play Manhattan Project and maybe Tsuro of the Seas. Also hoping to play a game of Infinity with the daughter since she has Friday off.
