How many of you got message warchieftain Haakon, who advertises Play-by-Email game?

Allmost identical advertise was on an english roleplaying "news"site, only difference was ASL to Europa Universalis....

This feels and looks like a spam to me...

I received it as well. It certainly didn't come from the ASL Mailing List, so delete it.

It is in violation of the CAN spam law (missing physical address) so technically illegal SPAM. My guess is they took our emails off the MMP
players list. They obviously know we are ASL players.

I am not great at reading headers, but it sort of looks legit. If you have
an email with a major provider (I don't) report them. It is illegal and
can't hurt to report them.

I'm not so sure about that. Doesn't the CAN spam law only apply to adult-oriented unsolicited email?

It's pretty sad, there's not much information about the law available online. You'd think there was a public website or something.

Also, the law applies only in the US.

Anyway, I've been trying to contact sbcglobal.net, but they don't seem very open to emails from non-members.

Didn't recieve it, though I am on the MMP list.
But, as I live Overseas, the "spammer" may have targeted American players...

Haakon Email

I got it too, and it sure looks and tastes like spam  . And since MMP list does not have my current e-mail, it cannot ber from there. Could it come from the profiles of this message board?

Yep got this one too.
Wasn't flagged by the spam filters here as spam.
Seems to have an international reach.

Hmmm, if not from MMP list then not sure where they got it. I am pretty sure you can't figure out my email from the forums unless you allow it (and I have it turned off). Maybe they created a combined list from what they could get from both locations?

Is you email public on the forums "asloser"?

Just cheked; it is not. I forgot when writing earlier that I has turned it off, so it seems highly impropable thai it came from here.
