WaR 13.2 Aus der Traum playtest v. Ernie Cameron

3.5 of 7.5 turns complete, the Germans continue to push hard for the bridges on the right flank.

The Germans' push up the right flank is closing on the bridge, while their left platoon is blocking American reinforcements from moving to help.

The Americans are being whittled down, having lost a platoon (3x 5-4-6) while inflicting no casualties on the Germans.

Starting the American roll for reinforcement (a pair of M18 Hellcats) but need a dr of 1 or 2 to receive them this turn. We will have to see if the Americans can hang on to see them arrive.

WaR 13.3 Aus der Traum playtest v. Ernie Cameron; a close game that came down to the last PFPh.

Up until turn 5.5 of 7.5, German casualties were light. In the last 2 turns the lead started to fly. First the M18 Hellcats started shooting, first 76mm APCR (5) and then AP. A Hellcat in N corner of Board 21 traded shots with a Panther HD next to the 21l4 Buildings, 1st shot (cdr, wdr) 2,1 (APCR, ROF, but Hull hit); 2nd shot 2,3 (last APCR, ROF, Turret hit) 20-14 = 6 TK, rolled 9; 3rd shot 2,2 (AP, ROF, hull hit), 4 shot, 3,4 (AP, Turret hit) 17-14 = 3 TK, rolled 7; & 5th shot 3,3 (AP, Hull hit).

The other Hellcat behind the hedge was living the life of Riley; managing to immobilize 2x Panthers; the first Panther was immobilized on the east side of the canal next to the bridge, the second one was bypassing building behind it. While the crew of the first on stayed in their vehicle, the crew of the second was forced to abandon it, and was cut down by the nearby 8-0, .50-cal, 6-6-6. This Hellcat continue to survive, dodging 3 shots from the immobilized Panther next to the bridge, but alas its luck finally ran out.

The remaining Panther after knocking out the other Hellcat rumbled up next to the building and started firing rounds into the building trying to break/eliminate the American infantry, all the while struggling off a couple of rounds (2x hull hits) from the Hellcat behind the hedge before it was knocked out.

With 2x Panthers immobilized (16 VP), the Germans looked to fulfill the alternate Victory Conditions, control a bridge with no Unbroken American =< 2 hexes and LOS of it. The fight in 21I4 building came down to a 3-4-6 in the street surviving and an 8-0, .50-cal HMG, 3-4-6 surviving the last German turn, which they did not.

A close game that looked all but lost by the end of Turn 5. However, some sharp-eyed American Tank-Destroyer gunners managed to make the exit victory conditions very difficult for the Germans to achieve.

Good game Ernie Cameron; next game WaR 14.2 To Cut the Marche-Hotton Road.
