This came up in a recent game:

two squads are on the opposite sides of a wall hexspine and all other terrain is clear.

a) Can both sides claim the +2 TEM? (yes)
b) WA can only be claimed on a adjacent hexside. So it is not possible to claim WA on a hexspine? (no, not possible)

I suspect I have been playing this wrong for a very long time.

The defender sets up onboard and may entrench.
The defender is Russian and has no guns, pillboxes or HIP by SSR.
The attacker enters on turn1.

c) the defender sets up concealed and the foxholes setup hidden. (yes)
d) defenders in a foxhole may not set up hidden. (no, may not set up hidden)

I believe this is correct. Neither actually has WA, but will receive the TEM. Similar to a US squad having WA over a German squad.....a US squad 3 hexes behind the US-WA squad fires on the German. The German receives the TEM even though he has no WA.

To your second question, yes, all Russians (in '?' Terrain or not) may set up Concealed; although OOB-given '?' can only be placed on those in Concealment Terrain. All foxholes will be HIP until an enemy unit <16 hexes away sees it.

I thought that if a unit moves adjacent to a wall it can claim Wall Advantage; then if an opposing unit moves into an adjacent hex on the other side of the wall it could not claim WA. Have I been playing this wrong?
