VASSAL is nearing version 3.0, and we'd like your input on what features and
improvements you'd most like to see in the coming year.

During the past two weeks we've collected suggestions from users; now, we're
opening voting on those suggestions.

How to Vote:

1. Go to http://www.nomic.net/~uckelman/tmp/vote/
2. Select up to 15 features which you'd like to see in VASSAL 3.x.
3. Tell us whether you're a module developer.
4. Click 'Vote'!

When to Vote:

Voting is open from now until 19:00 GMT on 2 February, 2007. Soon thereafter
we will release the results.

Notes:

* The links take you to the page at SourceForge which describes each feature,
in case the description is unclear or you'd like to read more about it.
* If the voting page is slow to load, that's becuase we're pulling all of
the RFE descriptions from SourceForge in real-time, so if SF is slow when
you vote, the poll page will also be slow. Please be patient.
* We want to know whether you're a module developer or a user because we
suspect that users and developers don't have the same desires, and this
gives us a way to test that.
* If you have problems with voting, *please* email uckelman@nomic.net so
we can rectify whatever problem you had.

Thanks:

The developers would like to thank everyone who made suggestions for the
poll. We received an overwhelming response---so much so that it delayed
the start of the poll!

Joel,

Several (most - all?) of those items look like great new features, I'd be inclined to vote for them all. I assume that the cap on 15 items is of course due to the available manpower to actually code all of those things. I'm curious, of the items that don't get voted in, will those be up for consideration at a later time or will they simply be wiped from the list of potential future updates?

By the way, great work that you and Brent and the other Java coders do, I can't thank you guys enough.

Hi Gary,

It's not a matter of voting items 'in' or 'out', but to set development priorities. We will basically end up with a 'score' for each item and then try and give more resource to the issues that people are most interested in. The 15 item limit is just arbitrary - it's to make you think about what is most important to you.

Cheers,
Brent.

PS. More than 100 people have voted so far, so we are going to get a pretty good idea.

Cool, that's what I figured.

Just voted. That was quite difficult to narrow it down to just the top 15 that I would want - but task accomplished. :)
