Any thoughts on what the foliage symbols refer to? For example, over Mamayev Kurgan, or the area to the west of Spartanovka. Brush? Grain? "Orchards"?

No, I'm sorry. And unfortunately, the map doesn't have a legend. If in the same site I find a legend of symbols coherent with this map, I can try to translate (my knowledge of russian is limited to transpose the kyrillic alphabet to latin one)
