Hi,

As the other terrain of a Rail Car seems to be a GLRR, am I right to presume that bypassing a Rail Car with a vehicle is double the cost of a GLRR (e.g. 4 MP per hexside for a fully-tracked vehicle)?

Thanks in advance for the answers.

Wouldn't it be 4 MP only if the hexside being traversed was also a RR Hexside? With a building-woods hex, you pay double the woods only if the woods cross the hexside being traversed, A4.31.

Non bypassing, it is 2 MP, whether following the RR or not.

B32.31 BYPASS: Units bypassing a woods-RR along a RR hexside (i.e., crossing the RR tracks) expend the MF/MP for crossing a non-RR hexside, excluding the COT of the woods being bypassed. Bypass along a non-RR hexside (i.e., parallel to the tracks of a woods-RR hex) is only allowed in GLRR hexes and costs normal Open Ground (or Brush) MF/MP.

So looks like it would just be 2MP per hexside (double Open Ground). Again, assuming you aren’t actually crossing the RR.

Thanks.
I missed that point of the rules.
But if the bypassing vehicle crosses the RR, it would be double the RR (4MP for a fully tracked vehicle)?

Yes, that’s what I’d think as well. The last sentence of B32.52 says:

VBM along a hexside that crosses a RR depiction must pay the associated RR MP costs.

So that would be 2x2=4MP for a GLRR.

My question was about vehicular bypass only.

Yes I understood that, but several of the principles are the same.
Indeed.
I was answering to clubby, who seemed to require that you should have mentioned VBM. As it was the topic, I don't think tgat it was necessary.
