Is a CT, BU, Motion AFV in bypass at ground level of a Two Story Building
ADJACENT to the First Level of the same building hex for Rout purposes?
If so, why? Infantry on the tank can't unload at all in the advance phase so how could they conceivably Advance into the First Level?

It doesn't seem right but...

It doesnt seem right but I looked up the defintion of ADJACENT in the ASL glossary (when in doubt, read the rules right?)

And the keyword is IF.....

Your example does seem perverse but it's another one of the ways the game system takes control out of our hands and gives it to our cardboard men...

Hence the change also in the SNIPER rules (which I think are great--now that can represent a sniper, friendly fire, short rounds etc)

Yes, it is ADJACENT. The rules do not say that an actual infantry unit must exist for two locations to be ADJACENT, only that a hypothetical infantry unit could advance.

rout

Their must be a stairwell in the hex in order for that to apply. Are you saying that a unit on the 1st lvl must rout or at ground Lvl?

Curious,

If there is a stairwell (either printed or inherent stairwell) then yes, they are ADJACENT.

There is only ONE location on the ground floor. The tank and any units in the building are in the SAME location. An infantry unit in the building could advance upstairs - the fact that infantry couldn't unload from the tank and advance upstairs is immaterial.

So if your guy on level 1 is broken, he'd have to rout away from the enemy tank - or die trying.

I do not understand the question. Yes, the unit at the 1st level must rout.
