only two days remaining and then Round 2 of VASLeague 2018 ends.

I still need a few result for the TOP League, Three from the EAST League and 10 (!) from the SLL. Please send me the results by the 30th April.
The European League and the West Central League have completed the round, so there is no reason to delay the start of their new round.
Hi Enrico
Roy and I will be finishing up our match "VotG 14 Pavlov's House" tomorrow evening.
cheers!

Me (Björn-Erik Karlsson ) and Jim Hunter finished or game of AP32 - Second Crack är Carmount today. I played the attacking Americans and pulled out a win over Mr Hunters defending Germans.

Carl Nogueira's German's lost to Brian Wiersma's Americans in a playing of J145 Golden Pheasants. Interesting game, but it was not to be for my defenders holding on desperately. Good game and I wish Brian luck going forward. Great guy and a great opponent.

I think Carl's troops wanted to end the war as soon as they could, given how the dice treated him. At the end; a conscript squad pulled a panzerfaust to destroy an American tank, but they also killed (intentionally maybe??) the commissar stacked with them by burning him with the backblast (with a 6 on the wound severity check). I think those Germans wanted to surrender as quick as possible to the Americans. Carl played well, but the dice weren't his friend this day.

Evening all
My Russians defeated Roy's Germans in our playing of VotG 14 "Pavlov's House." Russian Minefields,
Russian Sniper and a tenacious 8-1 Hero (Pavlov) kept the Germans at bay. Still went down to the
last German MPh .. as Roy's Germans made a last ditch effort, running the gauntlet of fire and minefields
.. alas, Roy's German forces came up short. A fun nail-biter of a scenario. Good luck to Roy in Round 3.
Cheers ya'll!

Rob Loper's Japanese defeated Ken Dunn's Marines in J189 Buckley's Block. It was a tight game right until the end.

A question on that scenario please - EC are Mud so no unpaved roads. SSR 1 states that an unpaved road exists. So do infantry get the road movement bonus etc. or does E3.6 kick in and say that "unpaved roads do not exist EXC dash.........

How is everyone playing that rule / SSR please ?

Many thanks

The SSR just says the road exists, as it normally would not in PTO. It says nothing about allowing road bonus on the dirt road when otherwise not allowed in mud.

I would think that road bonus is a function of the road existing. If the road exists then any bonus that the road delivers would also exist including the movement bonus for infantry. For another example, I believe that if you are on a road adjacent to a swamp that the road negates the need for a bog check. That would also exist (assuming I'm not making that rule up since my rulebook is 15 miles away at the moment). I think that in order for it not to exist the SSR would have to specifically say Road Bonus N/A or the like.

There is a lot of subtlety to Buckley's Block.

There is a lot of subtlety to Buckley's Block.
Front Range ASL used Buckley's Block in the recent Rocky Mountain Rumble, to general acclaim. IIRC, in the championship game Dean McGinley declined to fire both his M3GMC and his 37mm ATG (two of the Ami's heaviest weapons), thus denying Lynn Swanson knowledge of where they were and preserving the US CVP for the win. THAT'S subtle.

On the other hand I allowed my 37LL ATG AND my M3GMC to be captured by the Japanese for double victory points...what's the opposite of subtlety?

I'm taking the plucky Poles in BFP 110 Polish Panzerjagers.
Pray for the Poles trying to stop 24 squads, bombers, 16 tanks, motorcycles, engineers, and a group of trained wombats driven by Jay Dragonetti. :)

We played that the SSR over-ruled E3.6.

rob
I emailed MMP and Perry very kindly replied to my question on Buckley's block:

Of course E3.6 and its errata apply.

Road exists, no road bonus, 1.5 MF for infantry using the road.

....Perry
MMP

So there you go - you might want to give that scenario another try :)

Nate and I played AP117 with special balance given to the attacking Russians to afford a tight game that played out into the first half of R7 turn where Nate was making rolls to take control of 1 building and likely had ~33% odds of having enough control of the final block for victory in the cc phase. In the end my Axis forces pulled out a victory in spike of the original OB being almost wiped out (except for two leaders and one squad) by the start of turn 4. Many thanks to Nate for the excellent game and best wished for future matches.
