CG4.47 mentions that blazes in huts are replaced with open ground, while blazes in buildings are replaced with rubble, so that sounds as if huts are in play.

JR
Thanks JR. The statement on stone/wooden buildings was unnecessarily redundant and hence confused me.

Not sure if this has been mentioned or already considered, but I thought I would put in a request for a change to the Notify about special DRs field. Would it be a lot more work to allow players to choose to enable a booby trap DR reminder?

Thanks for all of your work on VASL. Now playing RB CG1 on VASL, thanks again.

BC
Thanks for that!

Haven't seen a post from BigAl for a while. Anyone know if he is ok? One of my favorite ASL peeps.

I was last around July 13th, so I found it odd he hadn't been on since, given that he is a prolific poster in all things VASL. Also had Skyped him on a matter personally prior to that. So yeah, I was concerned. Still am. Likely just busy, but he is usually posting a fair amount and almost always answers a Skype within a day. Had a few close friends pass on in the last two years and almost lost another two months ago, so I reserve the right to be "jittery".

Hey Carl. Dealing with some ongoing health issues for my wife but otherwise I am doing fine. It's been a busy summer. Just got home in fact. Completely forgot to keep tabs on Skype. I'll check it out asap. Thanks for the search flare :)

Finnish Squads

Hi Tuomo,

I've noticed that there's a slight problem with certain Finnish Squads/Half-squads. I refer specifically to the 548, 447, and 437 squads (essentially, the new squad types that arrived with Hakkaa Paalle).

When in broken form, these squads rally when reduced to Half-squads (using CTRL-V). This typically happens when a broken squad suffers Casualty Reduction.

Thought you'd want to know......

John.

Permissions is one possibility. If the board files and/or somewhere in the path is read-only and/or you have insufficient privileges, you would probably see something like that. Did you install vasl and the boards in the c:\program files directory?

Oh, yeah, I have been having permissions issues with that lately when I copied boards down. Thanks for the tip, I'll see if I can fix that.

Perhaps a better solution would be to change the settings for vasl so that the boards directory is under your home rather than under c:\program files. But, your choice.

The boards folder is a preference, and there is no default value, so there's nothing to change in VASL.

I am having trouble putting together what you are saying here. The boards folder is indeed a preference (under File, Preferences, Board Directory). If you change the preference, vasl reads the boards from that directory. If you have installed vasl on windows in c:\Program Files and have also set your board directory to be under c:\Program Files, you will have permissions issues unless you do something else (change permissions for the boards directory, run the program as administrator, and/or select a different Board Directory). You do not *have* to change something in vasl, but in the situation Don was in you would have to change something in windows, and I would suggest changing the vasl boards directory should be the preferred solution.

I took your previous comment as a suggestion that VASL should have a universal setting that pointed to the home directory. I.e. preventing the user from picking a restricted folder.

I wasn't suggesting a code change; I was suggesting that Don should set his preferences differently. Changing permissions in c:\Program Files is potentially dangerous. Sorry for the confusion. It would be nice if vasl chose an appropriate directory as default, and that would most likely under home somewhere. But that would be a "nice to have sometime" and not under discussion in this situation.

Good point jrv, I think for some, if not most folks this would be a better/safer approach, but in my instance, I am running on a VM so I don't really care too much about the permissions per se.

I put all my boards (and other files) in Dropbox: as I have two computers, the boards and files are always at the same level of update on both.
