I am trying to get BtB01 (taking Tailleville) setup on VASL and I cannot get the village overlay HOBvI loaded. It keeps complaining about a misorientation. I do have the board and overlay files in the right directories :D

I tired flipping the board around to no avail. Accoriding to the HOB folder, hexes K1 & K2 are the heces to use for orientation

Does Klaus from HOB have any hints about how to do this (this is my first time on VASL - so show a little mercy)

It's because those are the names of the files contained in the overlay files (which are just zip files at zero compression). It would be a simple matter to rename them to match the overlay names...

What do the 'd' and 'a' sufficxes mean on the overlay files within the ZIP file ?

I was also trying to use the complete file name (obvioulsy unsuccessful)

Orientation. Most overlays have suffixes a to f, as they can be oriented in all six directions; these only need two. You don't need to use these suffixes, as VASL figures out which orientation to use based on the hexes that are entered.

Sorry guys,

the VASL files were done by Tom Repetti, who also did the naming.

Due to the naming conventions he has to use in VASL and a conversation with Rodney Kinney he named them the way they are named.

I was 100% sure (and now stand corrected) that we had the overlay placing note on the website:confused:
Since we don't, I will add it tomorrow.

Ciao

Not really :D

It comes from being an European and expecting the rest of the world can read roman numbers

OK, this is not a good joke, but pretty true.

There is still no instructions on how do it correctly. Does anyone know how to put overlay H1 on HoBIV?

Thanks,

Keith

HoB BtB scenarios

HI
Over the last two week I have reworked all of the BtB scenarios for use with VASL V5. They have all been put on the download page on at VASL web page.
:toast:
so if you are looking to play a BtB scenario there all set up for you but you will still need the scenario card for the SSR's and stuff like that. :salute:

Just downloaded the HOB scenario zip for the tournament. BtB1 is missing the 2-3-7 German halfsquad and I see two extra version 4 Trenches on the map. Also emailing you.

That is because rk has not posted the updated versions yet. There is usealy an annoument that the scenarios have been up dated or something like that.

Ok cheers :)

The overlay seems a bit screwy though that is not your fault :p
